Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of detecting, from the images of a crowd taken by a monitor camera, various conditions including steady and unsteady conditions. A monitoring system (MS) is provided with an image input means (1) for taking and inputting the image of a crowd; an optical flow calculating means (2) for calculating from the inputted image an optical flow; a determination block setting means (3) which separates an image region by unitary blocks used in determining an unsteady condition; an optical flow attribute collecting means (4) for collecting the attribute of optical flow occurring in each determination block; a degree of steadiness evaluation index calculating means (5) for calculating the evaluation index which evaluates from the attribute of the collected optical flow the degree of steadiness of the determination block; an unsteady condition determining means (6) for determining from the value of the evaluation index the unsteady condition of the determination block; and an output means (7) for outputting the determined steady or unsteady condition to a monitor or a recording means while drawing the same on the image.
