Abstract:
A monitoring system includes a communication device that is connected to a monitoring device and transfers packets. The communication device transfers the packets on a group basis on the basis of a group classification rule presetting groups for transferring the packets, measures packet traffic on the group basis as the per-group traffic, and transmits a sample packet obtained by copying a packet to the monitoring device when a certain condition is satisfied. The monitoring device receives and stores the sample packet in sample packet information, acquires the per-group traffic and group classification rule of the communication device at certain intervals, classifies the sample packet information into the groups in accordance with the group classification rule, calculates, from the sample packet information, traffic on the group basis as estimated traffic, and calculates an estimated error from the ratio between the estimated traffic of the per-group estimation information and the per-group traffic.
