Title:
MONOCLONAL ANTIBODIES
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1988/004668
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Monoclonal antibodies capable of specifically recognizing fodrin and having a subclass of G2 (G2a, G2b). The antibodies can detect fodrin of various origins in addition to animal species and from denatured to native origins. Some of the obtained monoclonal antibodies can detect a third subunit which cannot be detected with polyclonal antibodies. The antibodies can find wide applications to cancer, differentiation of cells, myotonic dystrophy, etc. Particularly with cancer generation, a monoclonal antibody (15A1) capable of specifically recognizing a fodrin beta subunit enables diagnosis of the extent of malignance of cancer and differentiation. Identification and determination of fodrin which is a cell-backing protein and which participate in an information transfer system are important for clarifying the mechanism of various diseases, and hence the monoclonal antibodies are quite important from the medical and physiological points of view.
