Abstract:
A monolithic refractory for a waste pylolysis furnace, which comprises a refractory aggregate containing 5 to 50 mass % of magnesia and a balanced amount of a material mainly comprised of alumina, a binding agent and a dispersant, wherein 50 mass % or more of the above magnesia has particles whose surface is coated with an organic silicon compound. It is preferred that a part or the whole of the binder is an aluminum oxycarboxylate , that the organic silicon compound is a silicone oil and that the refractory aggregate further contains a volatile silica in an amount of 2 mass % or less. The monolithic refractory for use in a waste pyrolysis furnace is of an alumina-magnesia material which is free of chromium and thus free from environmental pollution and also has significantly improved durability.
