Abstract:

A monomer composition giving an optical plastic material which has a high refractive index and Abbe's number and a low specific gravity and is excellent in material properties including dyeability, heat resistance, and impact resistance. The composition comprises a di(meth)acrylate compound, divinylbenzene and/or divinylbiphenyl, a crosslinking isocyanate compound, a polythiol compound having two or more thiol groups, and a compound accelerating thiourethane bond formation. The composition is reacted with a free-radical polymerization initiator to obtain an optical plastic material, which is used as a lens material.
