Description:
MONTAGE ASSEMBLY FOR FASTENING A SCREEN DEVICE ON TOP OF A

WINDOW AND METHOD FOR MOUNTING THIS MOUNTING ASSEMBLY

This invention relates to a mounting assembly for fastening a screen device on top of a window, comprising:

a window profile of the window;

a screen guide of the screen device;

and a mounting base, which is fastenable to the window profile and to which the screen guide can be fastened, for fastening the screen guide at a distance from the window profile.

In addition, this invention relates to a method for mounting a screen device on a window, wherein a screen guide of the screen device is mounted with the aid of a mounting base at a distance to a window profile of the window.

Mounting assemblies to which this invention relates are used, above all, in veranda roofs, light rows and the like. As described in BE 905 606 A2, sun shields which are placed on top of such windows are mounted with their screen guides at a distance above corresponding window profiles in order to be able to ensure the necessary ventilation between the window and the sun shield. At the side edges of a veranda roof or light row, the screen guides are typically fastened to an underlying window profile with the aid of an L-profile. Centrally arranged screen guides are typically fastened with a mounting base on top of an underlying window profile.

The screen guides and the window profiles can in this case be of single-part construction, but are also often of multipart construction.

A problem with fastening the screen guides to the window profiles in this way is that, when the screen guides are screwed to the window profiles, openings into which rainfall can seep are made in the window profiles. Moreover, the current window profiles increasingly often combine different functions, whereby they have a specific structure in which screws can be fitted in these window profiles only at specific places. When mounting the screen guides on the window, it is necessary to accurately define this specific location. On site, however, this is not always an easy task for a fitter.

A further problem is that, as a result of the specific structure of window profiles with chamber formations, surrounded by walls constructed as thinly as possible, these walls often get damaged when a screw is screwed tightly into a screw channel in such a profile.

Accordingly, the object of this invention is to provide solutions for the abovementioned problems.

This object of the invention is achieved in the first place by providing a mounting assembly for fastening a screen device on top of a window, comprising:

a window profile of the window;

a screen guide of the screen device;

and a mounting base, which is fastenable to the window profile and to which the screen guide can be fastened, for fastening the screen guide at a distance from the window profile;

wherein the window profile, on its side designed to be arranged facing towards the screen guide, is provided with a depression and/or an elevation, and wherein the mounting base, on its side designed to be fastened to the window profile, is provided with an elevation and/or depression corresponding with this depression and/or elevation.

Such depressions and/or elevations can be easily provided at a desired distance from a location in which screws can be fitted in the window profile. If then, during assembly, the elevation of the mounting base or the window profile is engaged in the corresponding depression of the window profile or the mounting base, this specific location can easily proceed to be determined in a particularly accurate manner. It is thus assured that such a mounting base can always be positioned at a correct place on such a window profile.

Both the window profile, the screen guide and the mounting base can be realized in single-part or multipart construction. The window profile can in this case, for example, be provided with an extra mounting profile, also relative to similar window profiles.

Such depressions and elevations can assume several forms.

In a simple embodiment, the window profile is provided with a said depression, which is realized as a slot, and the mounting base is provided with a said elevation, which is realized as a rib corresponding with the slot.

In place of such a rib, a mounting base can also, for example, be provided with various projections arranged in a line, so that these can together engage in the said slot.

In extruded window profiles, such a slot can easily be co-extruded with the window profile. Alternatively, a rib, for example, could also be co-extruded with the window profile, in which case the mounting base can be provided with a corresponding slot. In addition, the object of the invention is achieved by providing a mounting assembly for fastening a screen device to a window, comprising:

a window profile of the window;

a screen guide of the screen device;

and a mounting base, which is fastenable to the window profile and to which the screen guide can be fastened, for fastening the screen guide at a distance from the window profile;

wherein the mounting base comprises a fastening plate, for fastening the mounting base to the window profile, wherein this fastening plate is provided with at least one screw hole, and wherein this fastening plate, on its side designed to be arranged facing towards the screen guide, comprises around this screw hole a vertical rim, which is realized tapering away from the window profile and away from the screw hole.

With the aid of such a vertical rim, rainfall which falls in onto the fastening plate or is evacuated via this fastening plate can be led away from the screw hole.

Preferably, the said vertical rim is of substantially conical construction.

Such a mounting assembly with vertical rim round about the screw hole in the mounting plate of the fastening base further preferentially comprises a screw, for fastening in the said screw hole, wherein this screw is provided with a screw head comprising a diameter which is greater than the smallest outside diameter of the vertical rim. Rainfall flowing off from the screw head is thus brought over the vertical rim, so that it is kept away from the screw hole.

In such an embodiment having a said vertical rim around the screw hole, the window profile further preferentially comprises an above-described depression and/or elevation, and the mounting base preferentially comprises an above-described corresponding elevation and/or depression.

Furthermore, the object of the invention is also achieved by providing a mounting assembly for fastening a screen device to a window, comprising:

a window profile of the window;

a screen guide of the screen device;

- and a mounting base, which is fastenable to the window profile and to which the screen guide can be fastened, for fastening the screen guide at a distance from the window profile;

wherein the window profile comprises an outer wall and comprises a screw channel at a distance from the outer wall, in order to engage herein a screw for fastening the mounting base to the window profile, and wherein the mounting assembly comprises a spacer sleeve, designed to be arranged between the screw channel and the outer wall, in order to herethrough engage this screw in the screw channel.

With the aid of such a spacer sleeve, a situation in which the outer wall of the window profile gets damaged when a screw for fastening the mounting base to the window profile is screwed firmly down can be avoided.

Such a spacer sleeve is preferably of hollow-cylindrical construction. This can be made, for example, of metal.

Preferably, such an embodiment further comprises also one or more characteristics of above-described mounting assemblies according to this invention.

In addition, the object of the invention is also achieved by providing a method for mounting a screen device on a window, wherein a screen guide of the screen device is mounted with the aid of a mounting base at a distance to a window profile of the window, wherein the screen guide, the mounting base and the window profile constitute part of a mounting assembly according to this invention as described above, having an elevation and/or depression in the window profile and a corresponding depression and/or elevation in the mounting base, and wherein the elevation of the mounting base or the window profile is fitted in the corresponding depression of the window profile or the mounting base before the mounting base is fastened to the window profile.

Finally, the object of the invention is also achieved by providing a method for mounting a screen device on a window, wherein a screen guide of the screen device is mounted with the aid of a mounting base at a distance to a window profile of the window, wherein the screen guide, the mounting base and the window profile constitute part of a mounting assembly according to this invention as described above, having a spacer sleeve, wherein a first bore having a first diameter, smaller than the diameter of the spacer sleeve, is made in the window profile, through the outer wall and into the screw channel, wherein a second bore having a second diameter, corresponding with the diameter of the spacer sleeve, is made almost concentrically with the first bore only through the outer wall, wherein the spacer sleeve is fitted, via the second bore in the window profile, above the screw channel, and wherein the mounting base is fastened to the window profile with the aid of a screw, which is screwed through the spacer sleeve into the screw channel.

Preferably, such a method further comprises also the characteristics of the earlier described method according to this invention.

This invention is also now explained in greater detail on the basis of the hereinafter following detailed description of a few preferential mounting assemblies and methods according to this invention. The aim of this description is to provide solely illustrative examples and to indicate further advantages and particularities of this invention, and thus cannot be interpreted as a limitation of the field of application of the invention or of the patent rights claimed in the claims.

Figure 8 a part of a light row having a screen device mounted hereon with the aid of mounting assemblies according to this invention is represented in cross section, sectioned transversely through the window profiles, with the mounting bases and the screen guides in side view.

The represented mounting assemblies (1) comprise a window profile (2) for bordering windows from a light row, a screen guide (3) for the guidance of a screen, and a bottom lath (22) from a screen device, and a mounting base (4) for mounting the screen guide (3) on top of the window profile (2) at a distance apart.

Of the light row, only the window profiles (2) in Figures 6, 7 and 8 have been represented. The other components of such a light row are known from the prior art. Of the screen device can be seen in Figure 8 the screen box (21), in which a non- visible screen roller is accommodated, having a screen which can be rolled up and unrolled hereon. To the bottom side of the screen is fastened the represented bottom lath (22). In the rolling up and unrolling of the screen, the lateral sides of this screen and the bottom lath (22) are guided in the screen guides (3). Such screen devices are likewise known from the prior art. The window profile (2) is respectively constructed from a plurality of profile parts (24, 25, 26, 27, 28), as can be seen in Figures 6 and 7. These profile parts (24, 25, 26, 27, 28) can each be produced, for example, by extrusion, so as afterwards to be assembled into a window profile (2).

The window profile (2) comprises a top wall (19), on which, in Figures 6 to 8, the mounting base (4) is respectively mounted. In its top wall (19), each window profile (2) is provided with a slot (5) for the positioning of a mounting base (4) herein. At a distance below this top wall (19), the window profile (2) comprises screw channels (17), for the engagement herein of screws (10) for the mounting of a mounting base (4) on top of the window profile (2). Above these screw channels (17) is respectively arranged a partition wall (20), likewise at a distance below the top wall (19).

The window profiles (2) are laterally provided with recesses (29) for the fitting of glazing herein.

Each mounting base (4) comprises a fastening plate (7) for fastening the mounting base (4) on the window profile (2), a column (1 1) to create distance with respect to the window profile (2), and a fastening flange (12) for fastening the mounting base (4) to the screen guide (3).

At the bottom of the fastening plate (7), the mounting base (4) comprises a rib (6) corresponding with the slot (5) in the window profile (2). This rib (6) is visible in Figures 1, 2, 5, 6 and 7. With the aid of this rib (6), the mounting base (4) can be accurately positioned with respect to the window profile (2), by fitting of this rib (6) in the corresponding slot (5).

In the fastening plate (7) are further provided a plurality of screw holes (8), which are positioned such that, following fitting of the mounting base (4) with its rib (6) in the slot (5) of the window profile (2), a screw (10) which has been fitted herethrough is always screwed in the corresponding screw channel (17).

In order not to damage the top wall (19) of the window profile (2) in the tightening of a screw (10) for fastening the mounting base (4) to this window profile (2), a hollow cylindrical spacer sleeve (18) can be fitted on top of the partition wall (20), as can be seen in Figures 6 and 7. To this end, a first bore will be made through the top wall (19) and the partition wall (20), with a diameter which is smaller than the diameter of the spacer sleeve (18). After this, concentrically with this first bore, a second bore is made only through the top wall (19). This second bore then has a diameter matching the outside diameter of the spacer sleeve (18), such that the spacer sleeve (18) can be fitted herethrough on top of the partition wall (20). Around the screw holes (8) in the fastening plate (7), conical vertical rims (9) are provided, such that rainfall is guided via these rims (9) away from the screw holes (8). The screws (10) with which the fastening plate (7) is screwed on the window profile (2) have a screw head having a diameter which is greater than the smallest diameter of these conical vertical rims (9), such that they guide rainfall over these rims (9).

Between the fastening plate (7) and the window profile (2) is also respectively fitted a seal (23), in order to prevent rainfall from being able to reach the screw holes in the window profile (2) via this route.

The column (1 1) on top of the fastening plate (7) creates sufficient distance between this fastening plate (7) and the fastening flange (12). This distance is, on the one hand, necessary to provide the necessary ventilation between the screen device and the light row. On the other hand, this distance is necessary to be able to reach the fastening plate (7) in order to fasten this to the window profile (2), and to be able to reach the fastening flange (12) in order to fasten this to the screen guide (3).

In the fastening flange (12) of the mounting base (4) are provided elongated slots (13), in order to be able to position the screen guide (3) laterally with respect to the mounting base (4). Fitted through these elongated slots (13) are bolts (15), which are secured to a mounting plate (14). This mounting plate (14) is fitted in a corresponding mounting slot at the bottom of the screen guide (3), behind flanges which partially delimit this mounting slot. By displacement of the bolts (15) in the slots (13), the screen guide (3) can thus be positioned with respect to the mounting base (4). Following positioning, the fastening flange (12) is fixed with the aid of nuts (16) with respect to the screen guide (3), by tightening of the fastening flange (12) against the flanges which partially delimit the mounting slot in the screen guide (3).

A mounting base (4) as represented in Figure 1 is suitable for mounting a single screen guide (3), as can be seen in Figure 7 and in Figure 8 on the outer sides. Also the mounting base (4) from Figure 4 is provided, in order to mount a single screen guide (3) hereon. The mounting base (4) from Figure 3 is suitable for mounting here two mutually adjacent screen guides (3), as can be seen in Figure 6 and Figure 8, on the centrally arranged mounting bases (4).
