Abstract:
This moringa extract has a benzylglucosinolate content of not less than 6% by mass in terms of extracted dry solid content and is substantially free from alkaloids. The moringa extract, which solves a first problem, is useful in fields such as beverages and food. A PPAR activator according to the present invention, which solves a second problem, has an excellent PPAR activating effect and can be taken for a long period of time without problems concerning side effects and preferably used in, for example, beverages and food. Accordingly, this PPAR activator, which solves the second problem, is expected to be used in food, supplement or medicine for prevention of diseases such as insulin resistance, hyperinsulinemia, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, arterial sclerosis and obesity, as well as food, supplement or medicine for recovery from exhaustion and improvement in stamina by improving the basal metabolism. A benzylglucosinolate-containing composition according to the present invention, which solves a third problem, is useful in fields such as beverages and food.
