Abstract:
Provided is a motile sperm separation method capable of separating motile sperm with high efficiency. The motile sperm separation method, in which a narrow buffer solution channel and an upstream sperm path are connected in a preselection sperm storage tank, thereby allowing highly motile sperm to be selected through rheotaxis via the upstream sperm path, is configured such that an environment is created in preparation for a high-density sperm concentration area to form near a connecting base end of the upstream sperm path and for rheotaxis to occur. The motile sperm separation method is further characterized in that, in order to form the high-density sperm concentration area, the buffer solution channel is branched from the base end so as to be bifurcated, and the respective tip ends of both bifurcated channels of the buffer solution channel are gradually tapered.
