Abstract:
A compact motion converter/transmitter which can set the transmission characteristics
of motion or force to desired characteristics over a wide range. The motion converter/transmitter
has an input member, an intermediate member and an output member that are fitted
to each other while kept aligned with the axis and move relative to each other while
kept aligned with the axis. The motion converter/transmitter also has a first
transmitter for converting the first motion of the input member into a second
motion and transmitting it to the intermediate member assuming one and the other
of linear motion along the axis and rotary motion around the axis, respectively,
as first and second motions, and a second transmitter for converting the second
motion of the intermediate member into the first motion and transmitting it to
the output member. At least one of the first and second transmitters varies the
ratio of momentum of a member at the motion transmission destination to the momentum
of a member at the motion transmission source continuously and nonlinearly depending
on the momentum of a member at the motion transmission source.
