An electric power steering device equipped with a motor control device, said motor control device having a current detection circuit for detecting a motor current in the form of a detected current value, a drive control unit for driving a motor according to a duty cycle based on a voltage command value determined on the basis of at least a current command value, and a rotation detection means for detecting an angle and an angular velocity of the motor, wherein the motor control device is equipped with an adaptive current observer that identifies each parameter fluctuation of an output model of the motor, computes an estimated current value of the motor, and uses the estimated current value to compute a voltage command value, an adaptive identification diagnosis unit that diagnoses incorrect estimation of the estimated current value obtained from the adaptive current observer, and a current-undetectable state detection unit that detects a current-undetectable state in which a detected current value cannot be obtained, said adaptive identification diagnosis unit diagnosing incorrect estimation of the estimated current value on the basis of the estimated current value, detected current value, angle, and current-undetectable state and controling the duty cycle on the basis of the diagnosis result.
