The present invention achieves a compact motor drive control device for electric power steering the height of which is reduced and in which the temperature increase of a smoothing capacitor having a temperature-dependent lifespan is suppressed. A motor drive control device for electric power steering is provided with a switching element (20) for providing current to a motor, a smoothing capacitor (25) for reducing the ripple current caused by the switching element, a control substrate (10) having mounted thereon a drive circuit (12) for controlling the switching element and a control circuit capacitor (14), a control signal line (26) for supplying the control signal from the control substrate to the switching element, an electric connection member (15) for electrically connecting the switching element and smoothing capacitor (25), and a heat sink part (70) in which the switching element is disposed so as to be embedded. An electrical connection member (15) is disposed between the switching element (20) and control substrate (10), and the control circuit capacitor (14) and smoothing capacitor (25) are disposed in the space between the electrical connection member (15) and control substrate (10).
