Abstract:
This motor drive device (100) is provided with: a reactor (2); a converter circuit (3) which converts an AC first voltage outputted from an AC power supply (1) to a DC voltage; a capacitor (4) which smooths a second voltage, which is a voltage on the DC side of the converter circuit (3); an inverter circuit (18) which converts the DC power stored in the capacitor (3) to AC power; an overcurrent determination unit (11) which determines whether or not the first current is an overcurrent on the basis of the detected value of the AC first current flowing between the AC power supply and the converter circuit; and an overcurrent determination unit (12) which determines whether or not the second current is an overcurrent on the basis of the detected value of the DC second current flowing between the converter circuit (3) and the capacitor (4). The converter circuit (3) stops operation if either of the overcurrent detection units (11, 12) detects overcurrent, and the inverter circuit (18) stops operation if either of the overcurrent determination units (11, 12) determines overcurrent.
