Abstract:

A motor drive device (30) is used for driving a motor (3) and is provided with an inverter (2) that applies AC voltage to the motor (3). At the time of starting operation, the inverter (2) operates switching elements of the inverter (2) with a first PWM signal obtained through PWM modulation performed at a carrier frequency that is a first integer multiple of the frequency of the AC voltage, and thereafter operates the switching elements with a second PWM signal obtained through PWM modulation performed at a carrier frequency that is a second integer multiple of the frequency of the AC voltage. Note that the second integer is less than the first integer.
