Abstract:
When an upper arm of U-phase (15) has failed because of shortcircuit, a lower arm of V-phase (16) and W-phase (17) as the opposite arm is switching-operated. When only the lower arm of V-phase (16) is turned ON, a channel of motor current (Iu) passing from a V-phase coil to an IGBT element (Q6) is formed, which reduces the motor current (Iu) returning to the phase which has failed because of shortcircuit. Moreover, by switching-operating the opposite arm of the arm which has failed because of shortcircuit, an AC current is induced in a motor generator (MG2). Accordingly, it is possible to continuously drive the motor generator (MG2) while suppressing increase of the current passing through the phase which has failed because of shortcircuit without adding a new device configuration.
