Abstract:
Provided is a motor drive device with which the temperature of a lubricating oil can be estimated when a lubricating oil temperature sensor is malfunctioning, and on the basis of this estimated temperature, a vehicle loaded with this motor drive device can be moved safely to a place where repairs can be done or the like. A lubricating oil temperature sensor (Sb) for detecting the temperature of a lubricating oil is provided to a lubricating oil path of a decelerator (2), a coil temperature sensor (Sa) for detecting the temperature of a motor coil is provided to a stator in an electric motor (1), and a rotational speed detection sensor (Sc) for detecting the rotational speed of the electric motor (1) is provided. A control device (U1) has: a malfunction detecting means (41) for detecting a malfunction of the lubricating oil temperature sensor (Sb); and a lubricating oil temperature estimating means (42) for estimating the temperature of the lubricating oil on the basis of an established relationship using the temperature detected at the coil temperature sensor (Sa) and the rotational speed detected at the rotational speed detection sensor (Sc) when a malfunction of the lubricating oil temperature sensor (Sb) has been detected by the malfunction detecting means (41).
