Abstract:
This motor protector is provided with: a fixed contact (5) retained by a base member (4) housed inside an insulating resin case (2) the opening of which is sealed by a sealing member (3); a serial current pathway formed between a first terminal (6) and a second terminal (18) through successive connection of the first terminal (6), a moving contact (8), a moving plate (8) retaining a bimetal element (14), an intermediate fixed plate (15), a first electrode portion (15a), a first resistor (16), a second electrode portion (17), and the second electrode (18); and a parallel current pathway formed between the first terminal (6) and the intermediate fixed plate (15) through successive connection of the first terminal (6), a conductive bottom plate (22), a second resistor (PTC) (19), and the intermediate fixed plate (15). Even after the first resistor (16) emits heat due to overcurrent, and the contact has been opened by the thermally-actuated bimetal element (14), the PTC (19) has high resistance and maintains heat emission, thereby maintaining a state of current interruption.
