Abstract:
A motor unit that comprises: a motor that has a rotor and a stator; a gear that is connected to the rotor; a housing that has provided therein a housing space that houses the motor and the gear; oil that accumulates in each vertical-direction lower region of the housing space; and an oil passage that guides oil from the vertical-direction lower regions of the housing space and supplies the oil to the motor. The housing space has: a motor chamber that houses the motor; and a gear chamber that houses the gear. The housing has a partition wall that demarcates the motor chamber and the gear chamber. A bottom part of the motor chamber is positioned above a bottom part of the gear chamber. Oil that has been supplied to the motor accumulates in a vertical-direction lower region of the motor chamber. A vertical-direction lower region of the partition wall has provided therein a partition wall opening that allows the gear chamber and the motor chamber to communicate. The partition wall opening is arranged such that, when the surface of the oil accumulated in the vertical-direction lower region of the motor chamber has risen, a greater quantity of oil moves through the partition wall opening from the motor chamber to the gear chamber.
