The invention belongs to physics, namely to optics, in particular to lighting appliances, in which the light generated by light source is re-directed by means of a lens. In the context of one of possible embodiments, the invention may also refer to the field of transporting, in particular to lighting equipment for motor vehicles, namely to motor vehicle lights, especially to headlights or fog lights.
In this, the purpose of the invention is to create a simple motor vehicle light, which shall consist of minimal possible number of components, wherein the light beams generated by means of a filament bulb, in particular a halogen bulb, should be uniformly and in accordance with technical requirements directed towards each predetermined area in front of the light, wherein also each dissipation of said light beams towards the adjacent areas i.e. outside of said illuminated area should be prevented.
Several lighting devices are known in the field of optics, and each of them comprises a light source, which is suitable for generating light beams, wherein said light source is either a filament bulb, LED (abbreviation for Light Emitting Diode), a light guide or any other means capable of generating light. Such lights are usually furnished with a reflector, namely a light impermeably part furnished with reflecting surfaces, which is intended for directing each generated light beams towards each pre-determined area. When the light is foreseen for condensing or dispersing light beams, then such light is furnished with at least partially light permeable lens, and optionally also bezels or any other additional light impermeable parts are available, by which directing of the light towards undesired directions is prevented. In addition to the aforementioned components, said light is also furnished with a casing, to which the majority of the aforementioned parts is either directly or indirectly attached. One of such lights is disclosed e.g. in EP 0 230 561 Al
The invention refers to a motor vehicle light, which comprises a light source, which is suitable for generating light beams and is furnished with a lens, which consists of at least partially light permeable material and is adapted for directing of each light beams generated by said light source at least approximately along the optical axis towards each pre-determined illuminated area in front of the light, as well as a light source bearing member, into which said light source is mounted in a detachable manner and with the possibility of replacing said light source in the case of irregularities or replacing the light source with another one having different characteristics, wherein also appropriate energizing of said light source is foreseen.
The invention provides that said lens comprises a convex, namely away from said illuminated area in front of the light deflected and particularly parabolic rear surface, as well as a front surface, which is faced towards said illuminated area, wherein a cavity is arranged in the area of said rear surface of the lens, which extends along the optical axis and is adapted to receive each disposable light source, so that said light source is inserted within the interior of said lens. Besides, said lens and the light source bearing member are each per se separately interconnected with a rigid bearing frame of the light, which is either directly or indirectly via appropriate casing or at least a part of said casing mounted in each appropriate location in a motor vehicle. Moreover, said bearing frame is conceived as a ring, by which said lens is surrounded at least in the area of its rear surface. Still further, said bearing frame is adapted to cooperate with appropriate regulating assembly, by means of which the position of said bearing frame together with said lens and said light source bearing member relative to each motor vehicle body is adjustable for the purposes of adjusting each desired direction of light beams towards each desired illuminated area in front of each vehicle.
Said light source is selected from the group, which includes filament bulbs, LEDs, light guides or any other parts or assemblies, which allow transmission of light beams towards the interior of said lens, namely towards the area between said rear surface and said front surface of the lens.
Said front surface of the lens can optionally be flat and in such case in particular rectangular with respect to the optical axis, but generally it may be either concave, namely deflected towards the rear surface of the lens, or also convex, namely deflected away from the rear surface of the lens.
The invention will be described by means of embodiments, which are schematically presented in the enclosed drawings, wherein
Fig. 1 is a top view of a motor vehicle light;
Fig. 2 is a schematic cross-section of the light along its diametrical plane;
Fig. 3 is a further embodiment with concave lens presented analogous to Fig. 2;
Fig. 4 is a still further embodiment with convex lens presented analogous to Fig. 2.
A light is schematically presented in Fig. 1 and comprises a light source 1, which is intended for generating light beams, as well as a lens 2, which consists of at least partially light permeable material and is adapted for directing light beams generated by said light source 1 at least approximately in a direction along the optical axis 100 towards each illuminated area A in front of the light. Said light further comprises a bearing member 3, into which said light source 1 is inserted, which means mounted in a detachable manner i.e. with the possibility of replacing each light source 1 in the case of irregularities or due to replacement by another light source having different characteristics, wherein appropriate power supply must also be ensured for the purposes of energizing said light source 1.
In accordance with the invention, said lens 2 comprises a convex rear surface 21, which is deflected away from said illuminated area A in front of the light, as well as a front surface 22, which is faced towards said illuminated area A. The invention provides that in the area of said rear surface 21 of the lens 2 a cavity 20 is arranged, which extends along the optical axis 100 and is adapted to receive the light source 1, so that said light source 1 is inserted within the interior of the lens 2, namely in the area between said rear surface 21 and said front surface 22 of the lens 2, and is moreover firmly interconnected with said lens 2.
The lens 2 and the bearing member 3 of the light source 1 are each per se firmly interconnected with a rigid bearing frame 4 of the light, which is either directly or indirectly via appropriate casing or at least a part of a casing mounted in each appropriate location in each motor vehicle. In the shown embodiments ^ according to Figs 1 - 4, said bearing frame 4 is formed as a ring, by which the lens 2 is surrounded at least in the area of its rear surface 21.
Moreover, said bearing frame 4 is adapted to cooperate with appropriate regulating assembly 5, by means of which the bearing frame 4 is displaceable together with the lens 2 and the bearing member 3 of the light source 1 for the purposes of adjusting its position relative to each motor vehicle body due to regular directing of light beams towards each desired illuminated area A in front of the vehicle.
Various light sources 1 can be used, and the light source 1 can be selected from the group, which includes filament bulbs, LED, light guides and any other parts or assemblies, which enable transmission of light beams towards the interior of said lens 1 , namely towards the area between the rear surface 21 and the front surface 22 of the lens 2.
In one of possible embodiments of such light according to the invention, said front surface 22 of the lens 2 is flat. In such case, said front surface 22 of the lens 2 is preferably rectangular with respect to the optical axis 100.
A further embodiment of the light provides that the front surface 22 of the lens 2 is concave, namely deflected towards the rear surface 21 of the lens 2. A still further embodiment of the light provides that the front surface 22 of the lens 2 is convex, namely deflected away from the rear surface 21 of the lens 2.
As soon as the light source 1 is inserted within said lens 2 and appropriately energized, light beams are generated in the area between the rear surface 21 and the front surface 22 of the lens 2, which are transmitted throughout at least partially light permeable material of the lens 2 and then on the border between said material of the lens 2 and circumferential air space deflected on the rear surface 21 of the lens 2 back into the material of said lens 2, wherein due to appropriate shape of said rear surface 21 of the lens 2 said light beams are directed towards the front surface 22 of the lens 2, through which the light beams are then transmitted towards each pre-defined illuminated area A in front of the light. When said rear surface 21 of the lens 2 is appropriately shaped, said area A is uniformly and intensively illuminated without any need on the presence of a reflector or a bezel or similar screen consisting of light impermeable material. A still further possibility of adjusting each illumination of said area A in front of the vehicle is given by each appropriate design of the shape of the front surface 22.
