Abstract:
The application of a moulding arrangement on a ceiling, wall or door requires great precision in cutting the composite strips in order to avoid gaps where the ends meet. The invention aims at simplifying this application by the use of a connection unit (2) for one or more strip ends (1 and 7-9), covering said end(s).

Description:
Moulding arrangement

The present invention relates. to a moulding arrangement. It is usual to provide moulding arrangements on walls, ceilings, and door panels for aesthetic reasons. A moulding arrangement is usually composed of four or more strip-parts which are cut extremely accurately so that when the parts are joined, there are no cracks or defects where the strip-ends meet. The high demand for precision leads to a certain amount of rejection, as well as being time-consuming.

The object of the present invention is to provide a moulding arrangement which requires less precision and is thus easier and quicker to produce. This is achieved practically in that the required strip parts with the desired profile are cut with less necessity for precision and are laid out on a surface in the desired pattern. Each strip end is covered by a connection unit which is placed over one or more strip ends, this being enabled by each connection unit being provided in its lower surface with one or more recesses or being prepared for the formation of one or more recesses, these recesses having the same profile as the strips with which they engage.

According to the invention, the abutment of two end surfaces of two profiles is replaced by a connection unit covering the ends of the two profiles, and the depth of penetration of the two ends differ.

According to an advantageous embodiment of the present invention, the desired recesses in the connection unit are prepared so that the desired number of recesses can be obtained by tearing off the appropriate number of parts of the connection unit.

Thus, in order to produce a moulding arrangement in accordance with the present invention, only a number of meters of the desired profile and a number of connection units are required, each being of the same kind. There are therefore only two different components, which simplifies the arrangement of the moulding.

Figure 1 shows a strip 1 of predetermined profile, which may be varied to a considerable extent. The strip in Figure 1 is designed to engage with a connection unit 2 having four recesses 3-6, these having the same profile as the strip 1. The four recesses 3 . ^ > 5 and 6 may be obtained either by milling or by the connection unit 2 being prepared to allow from one to four part3 of the unit to be broken off, giving rise to one to four recesses.

Figure 4 shows a strip 1 and connection unit 2 in which a part has been broken off to provide a recess and the connection unit has then been placed over the left end of the strip 1. Since the profile of the strip 1 and that of the recess are identical, the recess will completely cover the end of the strip, eliminating undesired gaps. The penetration depth of the strip 1 may vary within wide limits. In Figure 5 the connection unit 2 cover the ends of two strips 1 and 7, in Figure 6 the ends of three strips 1, 7 and 8, and in Figure 7 the ends of four strips 1, 7, 8 and 9. Figure 8 shows an example of how the strips 1 and 8 may be replaced by a single strip 10. It is clear from the drawings that the penetration depth for the ends of strips 7 and 9 may also vary within wide limits without anyundesired gaps occurring. Another example of this is shown in Figure 9.
