Description:
MOUNTING BRACKET FOR A TILED ROOF

TECHNICAL FIELD

The present invention relates to a mounting bracket for a tiled roof comprising a first flat and elongate structure adapted to be arranged on the outward facing side of a tile from the rear edge of a tile in a direction towards the front edge of the tile. The bracket further comprises a roof attachment part arranged at a first end of the elongate structure wherein the attachment part extends in a perpendicular direction relative the elongate structure for attaching the mounting bracket to the roof support structure or roof lath at the rear edge of a tile under the tiles. The elongate structure further has an elongate bracket part along the elongate structure protruding in a direction from the elongate structure in the opposite direction of the roof attachment part. The elongate bracket part extends from the second end of the elongate structure and along at least half the length of the elongate structure, the elongate bracket part having mounting structures at its distal side from the elongate structure.

BACKGROUND

Solar panels can be installed on many roof types and in several countries the most common type is tiled roofs. The tiles are removed and steel brackets are screwed to the roof support structure or roof lath and the tiles then re-installed in the former position. Railing systems are mounted on the steel brackets leaving a clear space between the roof and the panel. This allows for air circulation to get between solar panels and tiles and for the air circulation to cool the solar panels in the hot summer months.

A solar panel mounting system uses the rails and brackets to tie the solar power system to the roof frame. The weight of the frame and the panels are spread across the covered area.

There are a number of mounting systems on the market. SUMMARY

It is an object of the present invention to provide an improved mounting bracket for a tiled roof. This object is achieved with a mounting bracket according to the appended claims.

According to a first aspect of the present disclosure a mounting bracket for a tiled roof comprising a first elongate structure adapted to be arranged on the outward facing side of a tile from the rear edge of a tile in a direction towards the front edge of the tile is provided. The bracket further comprises a roof attachment part arranged at a first end of the elongate structure, the attachment part extending in a perpendicular direction relative the elongate structure for attaching the mounting bracket to the roof support structure or roof lath at the rear edge of a tile under the tiles. The elongate structure further has an elongate bracket part along the elongate structure protruding in a direction from the elongate structure in the opposite direction of the roof attachment part. The elongate bracket part extends from the second end of the elongate structure and along at least half the length of the elongate structure. The elongate bracket part has mounting structures at its distal side from the elongate structure. The mounting bracket is made of a bent sheet of metal. The elongate structure has a v-shaped cross-section for allowing a tighter fit to a concave part of a curved tile. The roof attachment part comprises two arms at the first end of the elongate structure.

According to one example embodiment, the elongate bracket part has a recess adapted for holding a pvc pipe running in a perpendicular direction to the longitudinal direction of the elongate bracket part.

Thus, the electric wiring that is necessary in one way or another is facilitated by the recess in the bracket such that a pipe could easily be pushed into it. Preferably, the recess has a radius corresponding to a standard size pvc pipe. Also, the recess preferably extends around a little more than half the circumference of a pipe, i.e. the recess is circular shaped with an extension that is larger than a semi-circle. In this way the pvc pipe could be snapped and held in position without the need for further fastening means. The sheet of metal is first punched to get the desired shape and thereafter bent and thus the entire mounting bracket is made of a single piece of metal sheet.

The angle between the “legs” of the “v” in the v-shaped cross-section is larger than 90 degrees.

This increases the stability of the mounting bracket since there will be two attachment points. Further, this improves the distribution of the load.

According to a further aspect of the present disclosure the end of the elongate bracket part at the second end of the elongate structure has a protrusion in a direction away from the elongate structure for stopping additional brackets or panels from sliding down when being mounted before they are fastened to the elongate bracket part.

When mounting further brackets or a panel this can easily be carried out by one person since the brackets or panels are stopped from sliding down when being mounted.

The recess is according to an aspect of the present disclosure arranged at the end of the elongate bracket part closest to the first end of the elongate structure.

Further features of, and advantages with, the present invention will become apparent when studying the appended claims and the following description. The skilled person realize that different features of the present invention may be combined to create embodiments other than those described in the following, without departing from the scope of the present invention.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

The above, as well as additional objects, features and advantages of the present invention, will be better understood through the following illustrative and non-limiting detailed description of exemplary embodiments of the present invention, wherein: Figure 1 is a perspective view of the mounting bracket according to an embodiment of the present disclosure and

Figure 2 is a further perspective view of the mounting bracket shown in figure 1.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EXAMPLE EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION The present invention will now be described more fully hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which exemplary embodiments of the invention are shown. The invention may, however, be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as limited to the embodiments set forth herein; rather, these embodiments are provided for thoroughness and completeness. Like reference character refer to like elements throughout the description.

With reference to figures 1 and 2, a mounting bracket 1 for a tiled roof has a first elongate structure 2 that is adapted to be arranged on the outward facing side of a tile from the rear edge of a tile in a direction towards the front edge of the tile. The bracket 1 further has a roof attachment part 3 arranged at a first end 4 of the elongate structure 2.

As can be seen in the figures, the attachment part 3 extends in a perpendicular direction relative the elongate structure 2 for attaching the mounting bracket 1 to the roof support structure or roof lath at the rear edge of a tile under the tiles.

The elongate structure 2 further has an elongate bracket part 5 along the elongate structure 2 protruding in a direction from the elongate structure 2 in the opposite direction of the roof attachment part 3. The elongate bracket part 5 extends from the second end 6 of the elongate structure 2 and along at least half the length of the elongate structure 2.

The elongate bracket part 5 has mounting structures 7 at its distal side 8 from the elongate structure 2. The mounting structures 7 are in the shown embodiment apertures for mounting with for instance screw joints. The elongate bracket part has a recess 9 adapted for holding a pvc pipe running in a perpendicular direction to the longitudinal direction of the elongate bracket part 5. The recess 9 extends around a little more than half the circumference of a pipe, i.e. the recess 9 is circular shaped with an extension such that it is larger than a semicircle. In this way a pvc pipe could be snapped and held in position without the need for further fastening means. Obviously, the size of the recess should be adapted to the size of pipe to be used or vice versa.

The mounting bracket 1 is made of a bent sheet of metal and the elongate structure 2 has a v-shaped cross-section for allowing a tighter fit to a concave part of a curved tile. Alternatively, instead of a v-shape, the elongate structure 2 could be curved to fit even better with the concave part of a curved tile.

Further, the roof attachment part 3 have two arms 10, 11 at the first end 4 of the elongate structure 2. In the shown embodiment the roof attachment part 3 is designed to be fasted to the roof lath of a roof via the apertures 15, 16 in the arms 10, 11.

The end 12 of the elongate bracket part 5 at the second end 6 of the elongate structure 2 has a protrusion 13 in a direction away from the elongate structure 2 for stopping additional brackets or panels from sliding down when being mounted before they are fastened to the elongate bracket part 5. The protrusion 13 is in the shown embodiment simply an extension of the elongate bracket part 5.

As further can be seen in the figures, the recess 9 is arranged at the end 14 of the elongate bracket part 5 closest to the first end 4 of the elongate structure 2.

It is to be understood that the present invention is not limited to the embodiments described above and illustrated in the drawings; rather, the skilled person will recognize that many changes and modifications may be made within the scope of the appended claims. For example, the length of the mounting bracket could be varied according to the size of the tiles.
