Description:

A mounting device and a method for making a mounting of a window or a door easy

The present invention refers to a mounting device and a method for making a mounting of a window or a door easy in an opening in a wall. The mounting device comprises an elongated guide rail. During the mounting two guide rails are used pointing in a direction towards the extension area of the window or the door, the front portions of the same are anchored to the frame of the window or the door in order to fasten said frame. The guide rails comprise in their longitudinal direction a movable fastening portion intended to be fixed into the opening or wall for alignment of said frame before its fixation in the sad opening. According to the invention a number of frame sleeves are screwed into pre-drilled holes in the frame, in order to create protruding portions between the frame and the wall, which in this case constitute anchoring points for the front portions of the guide rails for said alignment.

In structures of the type in question currently on the market mounting devices are today used to mount a window or a door in an opening in a wall. This can be done by aid of a mounting device, which via guide rails moves and holds the window or the door, so that they do not fall out from the window opening during the alignment of the same into the opening and makes so that they are mounted horizontally and vertically in a predetermined distance in depth direction in relation to the inside of the wall. The guide rails hold the outside and the inside of the frame and are anchored somewhere to the inside of the wall, which makes that after the mounting operation the mounting device must be loosen from the attachment on the outside from outside, which is expensive and troublesome. Further spacers or wedges must be used in order to align the window horizontally and vertically on the sides around the frame. This is time-consuming and requires large professional skill in order to function well. Another method to mount without using a mounting device is to arrange counter support means on the outside in predetermined places such as blocks, which prevent the window or the door to fall out from the opening. The support means are

difficult to remove after the mounting is finished. A mounting of blocks horizontally and vertically along the circumference of the frame between the wall and frame before the window or door has been placed in position in the opening is also necessary, which is more requiring and still more time- consuming than the method mentioned above.

One object of the present invention is to eliminate those drawbacks existing with the structures mentioned above, in anchoring a window or a door via hook groves in the front portions of the guide rails, which hook a number of frame sleeves, which are screwed into pre-drilled holes in the frame and constitute protruding portions in a space between the frame and the wall. The protruding portions are then screwed to support against the edge sides of the wall for orientation of the frame to a desired position in the opening, whereupon the attachment of the frame thereafter is done in the wall.

Thanks to the invention a mounting device and a method have been provided which essentially make a mounting easy of a window or a door into an opening in a wall. The mounting device comprises elongated guide rails. During the mounting process at least two such guide rails are used, which are pointing in a direction towards and across the extension area of the window or the door. The front portions of the guide rails are intended to be anchored to the frame in order to fasten the same during the mounting procedure so that they will not fall out from the opening. Each of the guide rails comprises in a direction towards the extension area a movable fastening portion for attachment near to the opening in the wall and for alignment of said frame into said opening to a predetermined position for its attachment. According to the invention a number of frame sleeves are during the mounting screwed into the frame in a number of pre-drilled holes in a direction in parallel with the extension area of the window or door. The frame sleeves are screwed into the frame such a long distance from its outside of the frame that they form protruding portions in a space between the wall and the frame and thus constitute anchoring points for fixing of the front portions of the guide rails. The frame is aligned into the window opening to a desired position in the depth direction. The frame sleeves are adjustable by screwing so that the protruding portions will support against the edge sides and support the frame and aligne the same until a desired position has been obtained for fixing the frame. According to a preferred embodiment example of the invention the guide rails consist of flat bars

comprising a thickness of about 2-8 mm, which is less than the length of the protruding portions. This means that this thickness can have room in the space, when the broad surface of the flat bars are turned towards the edge sides. The flat bars comprise in their front portion a catching groove in the broad surface for hooking of the protruding portions. The flat bars comprise in this way a width of about 20-50 mm and a length of 150- 500 mm. The catching grooves are L-formed and are cut out from a beginning of the edge of said flat bars in order to let the frame sleeves follow the catching groove and to be angled into a direction to the corner of the catching groove in order to achieve the hooking. The guide rail can then point in a direction towards the extension area of the window or the door with an angle towards the same, which is possible to vary as is desired. The protruding portion of the frame sleeves comprises a broader flange where the same contacts the edge side. The flange is with other words bigger than the width of the hooking groove, why it locks the protruding portions or the frame sleeves from leaving the hooking groove, when the frame during the mounting process is located outside the opening. When the frame thereafter is positioned in a desired position in a depth direction the frame sleeves are adjusted by a tool in the pre-drilled holes in the direction towards the frame sides, so that the flange gives a block function to support against the edge side. When the window or the door is mounted a fastening of the frame is done with screws through the frame sleeves into the edge sides. Then the guide rails are loosen from the protruding portions by guiding the guide rails so that the protruding portions are returned through the hooking groove in the opposite direction, in which they were guided into during the hooking. During the alignment of the frame along the guide rails in the opening, the frame is guided into the opening via an elongated guide groove located in the guide rail. The movable fastening portion is adjustably fixed to the guide rail in order to slide more or less against said guide rail by aid of an adjustable friction means, which can be locked in a desired position along said guide groove in order to lock the window or the door in a depth direction before the attachment. The movable fastening portion consists of a short L-profile, the length of which is about the same as the width of the flat bar. The horizontal leg of the L-profile contacts the broad surface of the

flat bar, which constitutes the friction means. A screw hole is provided through the broad surface of the flat bar, through which a screw with a nut e.g. a finger nut is screwed on in order to hold said fastening portion. The nut in this case can be tightened with desired strength, which makes that the vertical part of the fastening portion can be turned around the axis of the screw and locked in different desired angles having its contact surface contacting the wall for attachment into the same by screws or nails.

The principal advantages of the invention are that a mounting device has been provided which extremely make the mounting easy of windows and doors in openings in a wall depending on that the guide rails are easy to hook to and remove from the frame, can be angled and that the movable fastening portion, which is intended to be fixed to the wall, also can be angled and be locked at desired places along the guide rail and that the frame sleeves are easily adjustable during the mounting procedure.

The invention is described closer below by help of a preferred embodiment example with reference to the drawings enclosed, on which

Fig. 1 shows a vertical cross section in parallel with an extension area of a window or a door and through a part of a frame and a part of a wall viewed out through the window or the door,

Fig. 2 shows a vertical cross section across the extension area of the window or the door through the space viewed towards an edge side, and

Fig. 3 shows a mounting device according to the invention in a perspective view.

As is shown in the figures 1 -3 , here is illustrated a mounting device 1 intended to make a mounting easy of a window or a door 12 in an opening 3 in a wall 4. The mounting device 1 comprises elongated guide rails 5. During the mounting procedure two guide rails 5 are used, which are

pointing in a direction 7 towards and across an extension area 21 of the window or the door 12. The front portions 6 of the guide rails 5 are fixed to the frame 2 of the window or the door 12. Each guide rail 5 comprises a movable fastening portion 8, intended to be anchored in the wall 4. A number of frame sleeves 9 can be screwed into the frame 2 in pre-drilled holes 10 in order to form protruding portions 13 in a space 27 between the wall 4 and the frame 2, which in this case constitute anchoring points for fixing in the front portions 6 of the guide rail 5. The protruding portions 13 are intended to support against the edge sides 15 of the wall 4. The guide rails 5 consist of flat bars 16, the thickness of which is less than the length 24 of the protruding portions 13 to have room in the in the space 27 with the broad surface 22 of the flat bars 16 turned towards the edge side 15. Respective flat bar 16 comprises in the preferred embodiment example two hooking groves 17, of which one of these is used for hooking into a protruding portion 13 in the form of a frame sleeve 9. The broad surface 22 comprises an elongated guide groove 1 8, where the movable fastening portion 8 by help of an adjustable friction means 26 can be locked into a desired position along the guide groove 18. The protruding portion 13 is intended to contact the edge side 15 via a broad flange 25. The movable fastening portion 8 consists of a short L-profile 19 comprising the friction means 26, which have a hole 20 through which a screw with a nut holds the L-profile 19 against the flat bar 16. In the upwards angled portion of the L- profile 19 there is a contact surface 23 for fixing of the same to a wall 4. After the alignment of the door 12 in the depth direction vertically and horizontally the same can be anchored by the frame sleeves 9 by aid of screws 1 1.

A method to mount a window or a door 12 by aid of a mounting device 1 according to the present invention can be done in the following way: In a first step the frame sleeves 9 are screwed into pre-drilled holes 10 from the outside of the frame 2 with its flange 25 turned away from the frame 2 until the protruding portion 13 protrudes a distance, which is less than the space 27, in a second step the front portions 6 of the guide rails 5 are hooked into the protruding portions 13 and the fastening portion 8 of the guide rails 5 is

secured by screws through the screw hole 20 against the broad surface 22 through the guide groove 18, in a third step the contact surface 23 is angled and guided into a desired position along the guide groove 1 8 to contact a wall 4 or edge side 1 5 with a desired angle and there be fixed by the screws at the same time as the window or door 12 is aligned into the opening 3 to a desired position in depth direction and is positioned against two support points lying horizontally in the bottom of the opening, whereupon in a forth step the friction means 26 are locked in this position and the frame sleeves 9 are screwed into a position, where the diagonals of the window or the door 12 have the same length in order to fasten the frame 2 in this position to the wall 4, preferably by screws 1 1 extending through the frame sleeves 9, which are hollow and comprise a support for the head of the screw 1 1 and further into the edge sides 15.
