Abstract:
A generator set assembly (10) in which an engine (20) is mounted upon a base (190) by way of a specialized mounting component (60, 70), and a related method of mounting an engine (20) upon a base (190) using such a specialized mounting component (60, 70), are disclosed. The specialized mounting component (60, 70) includes a first rigid portion (120) capable of being fixedly coupled to the engine, a second rigid portion (150) capable of being fixedly coupled to the base (190), flexible intermediate portion (140) coupled between the first (120) and second (150) rigid portions that allows relative movement of the first (120) and second (150) rigid portions to occur in response to expansion and contraction of the engine (20) during operation the engine (20), and a further component (240) extending between the first (120) and second (150) rigid portions through the flexible intermediate (140) portion.
