Description:
MOVABLE AQUACULTURE BOX FOR CULTURING MARINE SPECIES

TECHNICAL FIELD

The present disclosure relates to the field of an aquaculture box. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to a movable aquaculture box for culturing marine species such as crabs.

BACKGROUND

In crab aquatic farming, the aquatic growth process needs to go through several shells. The shells are very soft and vulnerable to some kind of damage or heterogeneity, thus affecting the viability of crabs. Most of the existing pools used in such aquaculture techniques in aquatic feeds are earthen water pools/ponds and are likely to cause harm to each other. Also, there is a large scope of cannibalism of crabs there by the farmers losing revenues. Further it is difficult for the farmers to capture crabs upon growing to a certain size, difficult to feed them, and is not having sale value. Culture of these crab species has been discontinued because of a variety of reasons including complex and multiple larvae stages, cannibalism can be in all stages, slow growth rate to market size and the impracticality of relying on wild-caught brood stock. In addition, environmental considerations e.g., discharge of environmentally- disruptive effluents, or limitations on culture because of environmental regulations, have probably discouraged development of commercial facilities. With depleted crab resources, it is critical to ensure the long-term sustainability of the various crab species and the local crab industries they support.

Considering the above difficulties, the aquatic farmers have designed and developed aquatic boxes in which crabs can be cultured by keeping such boxes in the earthen pools. However, currently available aquatic boxes are smaller in size and are difficult for culturing the bigger sized crabs that have huge market demand. Also, there are several pitfalls in the currently existing aquatic boxes such as the low strength of the box, low shelf life of the box, the design of the box is not suitable for crab culturing, thus increasing the overall cost to the farmers. In the light of aforementioned discussion there exists a need of a movable aquaculture box that would ameliorate or overcome the above mentioned disadvantage.
