A movable top wheel for an elevator car comprises a shaft plate (1), a rotary shaft (2) inserted into a connection hole of the shaft plate (1), a sheave (3) rotatably connected to the rotary shaft (2) by means of a bearing, an outer cover (9) covering the sheave (3) and fixed to the shaft plate (1); the connection hole is an elongated hole, the elongated hole having space for the movement of the rotary shaft (2) in the connection hole, the outer cover (9) is mounted with a tension structure for adjusting the magnitude of the force required for triggering the movement of the rotary shaft (2). The movable top wheel for an elevator car is configured in that the connection hole, on the shaft plate (1), for mounting the rotary shaft (2) is an elongated hole, and meanwhile a tension device is mounted on the rotary shaft (2), such that the sheave (3) can move a certain distance together with the rotary shaft (2) in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the rotary shaft (2), and when the lifting height is too high and the steel wire ropes are twisted, the sheave (3) body can move adaptively following the twist or distortion trend of the steel wire ropes, thus preventing the steel wire ropes from being damaged.
