Abstract:
Disclosed is a movement assist device equipped with a retraction device (5) and a striker (6), said retraction device (5) comprising a case (1), a force exerting means (S), and a latch (3) the attitude of which can be switched between a standby attitude where the latch (3) is anchored in the case in such a way as to be incapable of sliding, and a retraction attitude where the anchored state is released, resulting in the latch (3) being capable of sliding; and said striker (6) serving to switch the attitude of the latch (3) from the standby attitude to the retraction attitude, and from the retraction attitude to the standby attitude. The retraction device (5), which is distinct from the striker (6), is provided in either a fixed body (9) or a moving body (50) which is movably disposed on the fixed body; and the striker (6) is provided in either the moving body (50) or the fixed body (9), whichever is other than the one wherein the retraction device (5) is provided. Furthermore, a sliding door becomes movable due to an exerted force when the attitude of the latch (3) is switched from the standby attitude to the retraction attitude. The movement assist device is characterized in that the case (1) comprises a guide section (1a) (16) for the striker, said guide section (1a) (16) being formed by cutting out the case (1) from one longitudinal end to a point midway between said end and the other longitudinal end in such a way as to reduce the width of the case (1), and that a portion of the latch (3) is disposed in the guide section (1a) (16) in such a way as to be exposed from inside the case.
