Abstract:
This moving handrail device for a passenger conveyor (100) is provided with: a handrail belt (10) formed in an endless shape; an inductive proximity sensor (20); and a control unit (30). The handrail belt (10) is provided with, on the inner surface thereof, a canvas section (12) disposed so as to be endless, along the moving direction of the handrail belt (10). Conductive fibers (14) are woven into the canvas section (12) at regular intervals along the movement direction. The inductive proximity sensor (20) is disposed so as to allow the sensor to detect displacement of the conductive fibers (14). The control unit (30) detects the moving speed of the handrail belt (10) on the basis of output from the inductive proximity sensor (20).
