Abstract:
[Problem] To be capable of determining an encoding mode through a small amount of calculation, while suppressing a deterioration in encoding efficiency. [Solution] In the present invention, an encoding mode determining unit is configured with: a mode ratio calculating unit which calculates a prediction mode ratio of an encoding mode in a previously encoded frame; a skip information determining unit which compares a preset ratio determining threshold with the prediction mode ratio, and predicts a pixel by using a reference frame and calculates a skip RD cost, only when the prediction mode ratio is smaller than the ratio determining threshold; an intra prediction information determining unit which predicts, by using the reference frame, a block to be encoded and calculates intra information and an intra RD cost; an inter prediction information determining unit which predicts, by using a pixel of the reference frame, a block to be encoded, encodes motion information and a prediction residual of the reference frame and calculates an inter RD cost; a sub-block cost calculating unit which calculates an RD cost sum of sub-blocks into which a block is divided; an intra residual removal determining unit which compares the ratio determining threshold with the prediction mode ratio, determines whether there is a residual in the intra prediction mode obtained by the intra prediction information determining unit, only when the prediction mode ratio is smaller than the ratio determining threshold, and calculates the intra residual RD cost; an inter residual removal determining unit which compares the ratio determining threshold with the prediction mode ratio, determines whether there is a residual in the inter prediction mode obtained by the inter prediction information determining unit, only when the prediction mode ratio is smaller than the ratio determining threshold, and calculates the inter residual RD cost; and a mode determining unit which compares at least one RD cost among the intra residual RD cost, the inter residual RD cost, and the skip RD cost with a sub RD cost, and selects a minimum mode to determine a prediction mode.
