Abstract:
Provided is an MT-type straddled vehicle having a high degree of freedom in design that can be applied to both small and large vehicles, and having minimal decrease in the rotational speed of the crankshaft of the engine. In this MT-type straddled vehicle, the rotational speed of the crankshaft is periodically acquired, electric current between a power storage device and a power-generating electric motor is controlled, and in a drive start period during a combustion action, an increase is initiated in electric current supplied to the power-generating electric motor in order to drive the crankshaft. The drive start period occurs after the time the periodically acquired rotational speed reaches a maximum value due to certain combustion and before the time the rotational speed is smaller than a middle velocity region when the region of rotational speed between the maximum value and a minimum value reached before combustion following the aforementioned combustion is equally divided into three regions.
