The amplifier is provided with a preamplifier (2) that amplifies a signal input from an RF input terminal (1) and outputs the amplified signal to output paths (3a, 3b), switches (4a, 4b) provided on output paths (3a, 3b) that propagate the signal amplified by preamplifier (2), and post-stage amplifiers (5a, 5b) that are provided on the output paths (3a, 3b), amplify the signal amplified by preamplifier (2), and output the amplified signal to RF output terminals (6a, 6b). Corresponding to the communication mode or the frequency band of the signal input from the RF input terminal (1), only one switch (4) out of switches (4a, 4b) is closed, while the other switch (4) is open. The power is turned off with respect to the post-stage amplifier (5) provided on the same output path (3) as that of the switch (4) in the open state.
