Abstract:
An exhaust treatment device for a diesel engine, capable of increasing the concentration of PM in EGR gas.
Electrodes (12, 13) having different polarities are provided to an exhaust gas divider (2), the PM in exhaust gas (3) is charged with a predetermined polarity by corona discharge between the electrodes (12, 13), the peripheral wall (14) which surrounds around an exhaust gas swirl chamber (9) is set to serve as the electrode (13) having the opposite polarity to the charged PM, the charged PM in the exhaust gas (3) which swirls in the exhaust gas swirl chamber (9) is caused to be localized near the peripheral wall (14) of the exhaust gas swirl chamber by means of a centrifugal force and an electrostatic force, the exhaust gas (3) which contains the localized PM is diverted as EGR gas (4) to the end section (7) of the exhaust gas swirl chamber, and a portion of the exhaust gas (3), said portion being localized near a center tube (7), is diverted as release gas (5) into the center tube (7) from a release gas inlet hole (8) and a gas vent hole (24).
