Description:
MULTI FUNCTIONAL WINDOWS Field of the Invention: The invention relates generally to a multi-functional window, and more particularly to, a multi-functional window that can serve both as a pivoted window in a sliding door.

Description of the Prior Art: Generally, a sliding door has more than two window frames that move along rails installed at the window frames.

However, the window frame of the sliding type door are opened and closed only at right and left directions. Thus, when it rains, the window could not open since the rain enters inside the window. There is a problem that internal air could not be circulated.

Further, other type of the window includes a middle window, a pivoted window, a folded window, etc. However, this type of the window can be also opened and closed in a single way. Therefore, there is a problem that it can be selectively opened and closed depending on its application.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention is contrived to solve the above problems and an object of the present invention is to provide a multi-functional window having a pivoted window function by which the window can be opened and closed depending on its application when it rains

or air is circulated, while using an existing sliding door.

In order to accomplish the above object, a multi-functional window has a window frame 1 that is installed at a window frame and is opened/closed right/left by a sliding door according to the present invention is characterized in that a pivoted window frame is connected to one end of the window frame by means of a hinge means, so that a sliding window frame is opened/closed outwardly.

The hinge means has a hinge axis inserted into the window frame and is thus fixed to the pivoted window and wherein a stop piece resiliently supported to the window frame is geared to a tooth of the hinge axis.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS The aforementioned aspects and other features of the present invention will be explained in the following description, taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, wherein: Fig. 1 is a front view of a window according to one embodiment of the present invention; Fig. 2 is an expanded view of a hinge means in the window shown in Fig. 2; Fig. 3 shows how the window of the present invention is operated; and Fig. 4 shows a window according to another embodiment of the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS The present invention will be described in detail by way of a preferred embodiment with reference to accompanying drawings.

Fig. 1 is a front view of a window according to one embodiment of the present invention.

In Fig. 1, a window frame 1 has at least two window frames 2,2', a pivoted window frame 3, a hinge means 4 and a glass 5. The window frames 2,2'can be closed/opened right and left. The hinge means 4 is fixed to the pivoted window frame 3.

Also, the pivoted frame 3 is connected on upper sides of the window frames 2,2'by the hinge means 4, so that the pivoted frame 3 can be opened/closed centering on the hinge means 4.

How the window 1 is operated will be now described by reference to Figs. 2.

In Fig. 2, the hinge means 4 includes a hinge axis 41, a stop pin 42, a support piece 43 and a spring 44. At this time, the hinge axis 41 is inserted into the window frame 2.

The support piece 43 is fixed to the window frame 2. The stop pin 42 is supported by the spring 44. If the stop pin 42 is released, the pivoted window frame 3 is opened.

Fig. 3 shows how the window of the present invention is operated.

The window frame 1 attached to the wall is installed at the front and rear of the window frame 2. The window frame 2 can be selectively opened in order to circulate internal air. For example, assuming that water enters the room when it rains. If the

window frame 2 is closed using the sliding door and the pivoted window frame 3 installed the window frame 2 is pushed downwardly, the pivoted window frame 3 is opened by the hinge means 4 latching the both ends of the window frame 2. Thus, entering of rain into the room can be prevented while air can be circulated.

Further, assuming that it is desired to open the pivoted window frame 3. If the press element 42a of the stop pin 42 that latches the hinge means 4 is first pressed, the stop pin 42 latched to the tooth 41 a of the hinge axis 41 is deviated. Thus, the pivoted window frame 3 can be freely opened. After the pivoted window frame 3 is opened by a given angle, if the stop pin 42 is released, the stop pin 42 is geared to the tooth 41a by means of a restoring force of the spring 44. Therefore, the pivoted window frame 3 is fixed.

If it is desired to close the window frame 3, the stop pin 42 is pressed and the pivoted window frame 3 can be thus opened and closed.

In the above, it is described that the bottom of the pivoted window frame is opened outwardly. However, if the hinge means is selectively attached to the bottom, right or left, the pivoted window frame can be opened toward a desired direction.

Fig. 4 shows a window according to another embodiment of the present invention.

The pivoted window frame 3 is connected to either an upper end or a lower end of the window frame 2 by means of the hinge axis. An open/close control lever 6 is connected between the window frame 2 and the pivoted window frame 3, so that an upper portion or a lower portion of the pivoted window frame 3 can be opened/closed. Thus, the window frame 2 can slide right and left and the pivoted window frame 3 can open/close

outwardly.

As mentioned above, according to the present invention, there is a provided a pivoted window function by which an existing window frame that is opened/closed right and left is projected outwardly depending on its application.

The present invention has been described with reference to a particular embodiment in connection with a particular application. Those having ordinary skill in the art and access to the teachings of the present invention will recognize additional modifications and applications within the scope thereof.

It is therefore intended by the appended claims to cover any and all such applications, modifications, and embodiments within the scope of the present invention.
