Background of Invention Conventional shower bath devices, which the intention of the present invention it is to change or improve on, consist only of a housing made of plastic material, having an empty space on one side, the open side, which empty space is to be filled with water, and a lid of synthetic resin or metal with a number of jets bored in it to squirt water, thus to serve only the function for shower bathing. Although there have been many researches made on such conventional shower bath devices, winning grants of patents, they have all been with the sole objective of saving water.

Absolutely no research has so far been concerned with addition of new functions, despite the rising demands these days, in fact, for a multi-function shower bath device.

Meanwhile, there are vagina cleansers, and the bidets installed inside flush toilet bowls, as representatives for another subject matter the present invention took

up for improvement, but these also have quite a few problems just as conventional shower bath devices mentioned above have had.

For instance, conventional vagina cleansers have a long thin conic pipe built on the lid as a unitary structure, by screwing it up on a cleansing liquid case, and the lid and cleansing liquid vessel as well as the conic pipe are made from synthetic resin.

When the user presses the liquid case with her fingers, the liquid in the case gushes into the inside of the vagina through the conic pipe and performs the cleansing function, but such conventional cleansers have a disadvantage in that the long thin conic pipe, in most case stiff and hard, often wounds the sensitive vaginal walls of females, when inserted inside the vagina.

Because the capacity of the cleansing liquid case cannot but be limited, that is, the quantity not so much as desirable, the pressure of the cleansing liquid gushing from the conic pipe is low. Moreover, and the liquid squirts only in the front direction, the cleansing effect being inevitably poor.

Meanwhile, conventional bidets, which have since four to five years ago been imported form abroad and in use in Korea, too, are fixed inside the flush toile bowls.

They have a nozzle to spurt cleansing liquid, whose angle adjustable, and so people can cleanse their ani by pressing one of the selective buttons fixed on the control box, after excretion. But these have problems in that they are still very high-priced, and as they are fixed inside the flush bowls at home, people used to them have to be uncomfortable and uneasy when they go on travel or take vacation in places, where there are no such bidets.

Disclosure of Invention With a view to the solution of such problems and in order to meet such social demands as indicated above, the present inventor has, after continuous research into and experiments on a combination of shower bath sprinklers and bidets, has successfully materialized his idea in producing a multi-purpose shower bath device of a new concept, which can perform a series of related functions, viz. the ordinary shower bathing, cleansing of the private parts of a human body, and water massage, as the user desires.

As will be further clarified in the following'Construction of Invention,"the multi-purpose shower bath device of the present invention consists of a new housing for the additional bidet and water massage functions, fitted on the back side of an ordinary housing for shower bath sprinkler, all built up as a unitary structure. Simply by a press of one of the switches the device of the present invention can be used as either a shower bath sprinkler, a bidet, or a water masseur. Moreover, the bidet is accorded with a function for anal cleansing, besides the original function for cleansing the vagina. Any of all these multi-functions can be carried out as the bather chooses.

Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention Below, the present invention will be described in further detail, making reference to the drawings at need.

Fig. 1 is the front view of an example which embodied the technical thoughts of the present invention, and from this drawing it will be seen that the multi-purpose shower bath device of the present invention consists in the main of a housing which looks like two of the publicly known shower bath sprinklers (housings as termed here in the specification) placed together, back to back.

In this example, the left-side half of the housing 1 performs the function for

shower bathing and the right-side half, the functions for water massaging and cleansing (the anal and vaginal), while these different functions can each be performed as the bather opts, by pressing a control switch 6 and a control cap 3 fixed on the housing 1.

Accordingly, the bather can select any one of the three different functions at will.

Figs. 2 and 3 respectively show a left side and right side view of a multi- purpose shower bath device of the present invention.

As can be seen from these drawings, the left-side half (Fig. 2) of the housing of the present multi-purpose device functions for shower bathing and the right-side half (Fig. 3), for the other two, viz. water massaging and anal and vaginal cleansing.

Whereupon, the left-side half (Fig. 3) of the housing looks the same as publicly known conventional shower bath device.

However, the right-side half 3, as has been mentioned above, has an entirely new construction, different even in appearance from that of other, conventional shower bath devices, because it is made to function for water massaging and cleansing of the private parts (the anus and the vagina) of a human body.

Figs. 4 and 5 are perspective views of the left-side and right-side halves of the housing, intended to illustrate their different constructions in further detail.

As can be seen from these drawings, the multi-purpose shower bath device of the present invention, looking as if two housings of ordinary, conventional shower bath device were symmetrically put together, consists of : a housing 1, with a tap water inlet passage open lengthwise, throughout; a left- side empty space LS formed on the left side and a right-side empty space RS, on the right-side of its upper part so that only the left-side empty space is connected with said tap water inlet passage; and a water outlet line opened above to connect said left- side and right-side empty spaces; a control switch 6, inserted in an insertion hole 25, bored in the center of the front of the upper part of said housing 1; a revolver 8, which, inserted in said left-side space LS, has its one end inserted in and fixed to a stop hole 26 on the end of said control switch 6, and has its other end formed in two fit-in holes 9 having, in turn, respectively a spring 10 and a check ball 11 like a ball bearing; a distributor cap 7, to be inserted in said left-side space LS of said housing and fixed thereto with a screw, said cap having two packings 15 filled up around itself, said cap's main body formed in a disk 24 having two jets 13a, 13b bored in it, the one in the upper part 13a being open on a water outlet 12 formed in the upper end of the left side of said disk, while the right side of said disk has two fit-in holes 14 formed in projection to meet with said check balls 11 on said revolver 8 inserted in said left-side

space LS; an ordinary squirt cap 2 to be fixed on the front side of the left side space, wherein said distributor cap is inserted; a seal cap 22 to be inserted in sad right side empty space RS of said housing, said cap having two packings 15 filled up around it, said cap's main body formed in a disk having a projecting water passage 27 formed on one side and also having a projection 29, in which a spring 10 and a stop pin 19 are inserted; and, a control cap 3, to be fitted to the front of said right-side space RS, wherein said seal cap is inserted inside, a disk forming the main body of said control cap having a cleanser 4 with a number of holes bored in the surface, and a water masseur 5 having a check ball 11 and a spring 10 and its end closed with a water passage stopper 28, while the inner surface of said disk has a stopper groove cut to meet with said stop pin 19.

Below, the multiple functions of the present device are described.

As can be seen from Figs. 4 and 6, the water's course of flow can be changed by the manipulation of said control switch 6 fixed on a side of said housing 1.

To elaborate, when the upper part of said control switch 6 is pressed and said revolver 8 moves downwards, said check balls 11 which shut off said two jets 13a, 13b each move downwards for a certain distance to open the upper jet 13a, and

during this process said water outlet 12 of said distributor cap 7 inside said left-side space LS, said jet 13, and said water outlet passage connected with said right-side space RS all come into connection, thus the water that flows in through said water inlet passage 21 of said housing 1 gushes through into said right-side space RS.

By contrast, when the lower part of said control switch 6 is pressed, said upper jet 13a is closed as said revolver 8 turns upward, while said lower jet 13b opens. In this state the water that flows in through said water inlet passage 21 of said housing 1 gushes into said left-side space LS.

Meanwhile, the water that flows in to said right-side space RS gushes through said water passage 27 of said seal cap 22, and when it gushes in the direction of said water masseur 5 it spurts irregularly as the force of the water pressure and the repulsive force of said spring act in combination.

Water spurting irregularly in this way, its force alternately very strong a moment and somewhat weaker at next, produces for a wornout bather a refreshing effect as if he were enjoying water massage, thus making the shower bath a cheerful experience while improving the washing efficiency at the same time.

Then water supplied to said right-side space gushes through into said cleanser 4 can perform the function for cleansing the private parts of a body.

Said control cap 3 for the two functions (water massage and cleansing), installed in the front of said right-side space RS, is capable of revolving on said

revolution axis 17 inserted in the center of the surface, and, therefore, water gushes toward said cleanser 4 or said water masseur 5 as the bather wants the course of water, by turning said control cap 3.

Moreover, there is a stop groove 18 cut in the rear side of said control cap 3, while said stop pin 19 corresponding to said stop groove is always set up on the rear side of said control cap 3, and the moment either said cleanser 4 or said masseur 5 comes on to its desired position, viz. the position where the water passage route for either function gets through, a click sounds, it is so arranged, to signal that the right position has been arrived at, and that there is no further turning of said control cap is necessary.

As a consequence, the bather can set the device in motion for either one of the three different functions at will at all time by a simple push-button operation.

Meanwhile, as to the cleanser 4 illustrated in the drawing for the examples of embodiment of the present invention has been made in a fabrication style so that it can be used by connection with the bidet, which the same inventor has revealed in his previous utility model application No. 99-15390, too, but it is also possible to form said control cap 3 itself in a body like that.

Capability of Exploitation in Industry As has been described above, the multi-purpose shower bath device of the present invention has a great advantage in that it can be used selectively for any one

of the functions of a variety (shower bathing, cleansing of the anus or the vagina, and water massage) by a simple operation of either said control switch 6 or control cap 3. and since this device can be supplied for low prices one may be made available to a large number of people.

Again, people can take it to anywhere while on travel, or on vacation, and since few families are without a shower bath system at home these days, a device of the present invention has a great advantage in that it is easily connectable to any tap water hose in a bath room for use.

Because, in the direction of the cleanser 4 or the water masseur 5, a small quantity of water (cleansing water) can gush with a high pressure, the efficiency of cleansing improves, let alone the effect of saving in water consumption.

Above all, an increasing number of people could share in a hygienic living owing to the present invention.
