Title:
MULTICORE OPTICAL FIBER AND OPTICAL TRANSMISSION METHOD
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2013/035347
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A multicore optical fiber has a plurality of core sections and a clad section which is positioned at the outer periphery of each core section and has a lower refractive index than the refractive index of said each core section. The separation distance between said mutually adjoining core sections is set such that the optical crosstalk between said core sections in the total length is -15 dB or more in the wavelength of 1550 nm and the cable cutoff wavelength is 1530 nm or less. Thereby, a multicore optical fiber for mode multiplex transmission and an optical transmission method using the same can be provided for which when a plurality of signal light is concurrently input, complex configuration and precise adjustment are no longer required while the optical loss can be reduced.
