Description:
A MULTIFUNCTIONAL SHOWER HEAD

FIELD OF INVENTION The present invention relates to shower heads. More particularly, the present invention relates to an improved and simplified form of multi-functional shower heads designed to produce several spray modes.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

A shower head is a perforated nozzle that distributes water over solid angle a focal point of use. Some shower heads can be adjusted to spray different patterns of water, known as multifunctional shower head. In order to achieve a plurality of spray modes, a complex shower head assembly is configured to allow the user to adjust the water flow to a desired spray mode. The present invention is an improvement and simplification of a shower heads structure over the other prior arts. The invention provides a user-friendly multifunctional shower head with a simple structure. The shower head works in a way in which the spraying mode is operated manually by turning the front top cover to make the back divider to rotate relative to the shower head housing.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION

One embodiment of the present invention relates to a multi-functional shower head, comprising : a hollow handle; a circular housing attached to one end of the handle, said housing having an water inlet and a screw receiving spigot; a valve attached to the water inlet for controlling water flows from the water inlet of the housing; a circular divider fitting well with the housing mounted on the spigot and having a plurality of apertures formed along perimeter side of the divider where by rotating the divider on the spigot as a centre will divert water to flow at least one of its apertures, said each of the aperture having a different water spray mode; a turntable front cover mounted to the divider , said turntable front cover having a plurality of pattern apertures and a plurality of concentric walls on the other side; wherein the concentric walls separate the pattern apertures of the turntable front cover into chambers for diverting the water flows from the housing through any apertures of the back divider, then to the selective pattern apertures for at least one spray mode.

Further, the multi-functional shower head according to claim comprises a plurality of spray nozzles inserted in the pattern apertures for directing the water into tiny droplets in misty spray mode and a flywheel is held in between the divider and the cover to create a pulsating flow for massage spray mode.

Preferably, the concentric walls separate the pattern aperture into three chambers: inner, middle and outer chambers. The inner chamber of apertures is in responsible to the massage spray mode. The middle chamber of apertures is in responsible to the misty spray mode. The outer chamber of apertures is in responsible to normal spray mode.

Preferably, the multi-functional shower head further comprising a snap on thread adaptor connected to another end of the handle which in turn connected to a water supply.

Preferably, the multi-functional shower head is adapted to be incorporating into wall-mount shower head.

The present invention consists of features and a combination of parts hereinafter fully described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, it being understood that various changes in the details may be made without departing from the scope of the invention or sacrificing any of the advantages of the present invention.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

To further clarify various aspects of some embodiments of the present invention, a more particular description of the invention will be rendered by references to specific embodiments thereof, which are illustrated in the appended drawings. It is appreciated that these drawings depict only typical embodiments of the invention and are therefore not to be considered limiting of its scope. The invention will be described and explained with additional specificity and detail through the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows an exploded view of the multi-functional shower heads; and

Figure 2 shows a perspective view of the multi-functional shower head;

Figure 3 shows a perspective view of a five function compartment of the multi-functional shower head.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to shower heads. More particularly, the present invention relates to an improved and simplified form of multi-functional shower heads designed to produce several spray modes.

Referring to Figure 2, the multi-functional shower head (17) includes five spray modes, including a misty spray, normal spray, massage spray and combinations thereof. In general, the shower head (20) comprises a hollow handle (3) and a circular housing (19) connected to an end of the handle (3). A snap on thread adaptor (1) and two O-ring (2) is connected to another end of the handle (3) which in turn connected to a hose so water enters the handle (3) and flows out from the housing (16). A turntable front cover (11) and a centre face plate (12) have a plurality of pattern apertures is mounted on the housing with a screw (14) screwed in a screw receiving spigot (6) that had been covered with a centre screw cover (15).

The shower head in Figure 1 is described herein as a hand-held shower head. The inventive shower head (17) can also be incorporate into wall-mount shower head. The wall-mount shower head functions identically to the hand-held shower head, except it requires a water pipe to connect the shower head (17).

Referring to Figure 1 and 3, the shower head (17) of the present invention including several spray modes, including a misty spray, normal spray, massage spray and combinations mode. The modes selector section includes a valve (7) with an aperture defined through for diverting water flow to the desired spray modes. This is controlled by a circular divider (8) fitting well with the housing (19) attached with the turntable front cover (11). The divider (8) with three apertures defined through: a first aperture (16) for directing water to the misty spray mode, a second aperture (17) for directing water to normal spray mode and a third aperture (18) for directing water to massage spray mode or any other spray mode from other apertures. As the turntable front cover (11) is turned, the divider also turned for allowing water to flow from the valve aperture to the first (16), second (17) or third aperture (18). In between there is a combination of flow to the misty and spray mode or the massage and spray mode. The turntable front cover (11) defines a concentric wall for receiving a flywheel (10). The turntable front cover (11) defines another concentric wall around a plurality of misty spray apertures. The two walls are connected with each other shown in the Figure 3. The wall is designed to separate apertures of the turntable front cover into three chambers for different spray modes. The three apertures on the divider are positioned separately on the three chambers for directing the water flow to corresponding apertures.

A plurality of outer circle aperture around the turntable front cover (11) forms normal spray apertures. The apertures around the edge of the circular turntable front cover provide a standard circular spray.

An outer circle of apertures around the edge of the centre face plate (12) forms the misty spray apertures. The water flows from the mist apertures is conditioned into fine water droplets to stimulate a steam effect. A circle of 12 number spray nozzle (9) is inserted into all the misty spay apertures. Each individual spray nozzle (9) has two opposed grooves formed along the nozzle side wall. The water is split by the grooves into two strands of high- velocity water. The grooves direct the water to the misty apertures to create into tiny droplets in misty spray mode.

Massage spray emerges from a plurality of apertures formed around the inner circle edge of the centre face plate (12). The flywheel (10) is held in between the divider (8) and the turntable front cover (11) to create a pulsating flow. When water flows in the massage spray mode chamber enclosed by the walls, the flywheel is driven, resulting in a pulse spray for massage spray mode.

The present invention may be embodied in other specific forms without departing from its essential characteristics. The described embodiments are to be considered in all respects only as illustrative and not restrictive. The scope of the invention is, therefore indicated by the appended claims rather than by the foregoing description. All changes, which come within the meaning and range of equivalency of the claims, are to be embraced within their scope.
