Abstract:
This invention provides a multilayer battery in which short circuits between a positive electrode or electrodes and a negative electrode or electrodes are prevented and increases in the thickness of parts of the battery are minimized, resulting in good electrical characteristics and high reliability. In said multilayer battery, which has a battery element in which two or more electrodes of a first polarity are laminated to an electrode of a second polarity with separators interposed therebetween, each first-polarity electrode has an electrode section where an active-material layer is present on top of a collector, a lead section where the active-material layer is not present on top of the collector, and an insulating layer that is laid out so as to extend from the active-material layer to an active-material-layer-free region in the boundary region between the electrode section and the lead section. Viewed in the direction of lamination, at least part of the insulating layer on one first-polarity electrode and at least part of the insulating layer on another first-polarity electrode are present in different locations.
