Abstract:
Provided is a multilayer ceramic electronic component that solves the problem of corrosion and has excellent reliability in high humidity even though Ni is used in material for internal electrodes. When internal electrodes (4, 5) are divided into a main part (12) and a peripheral part (13), the main component of the main part (12) is made Ni, and at least part of the peripheral part (13) is an alloyed region wherein Ni and M (M being at least one selected from Cu, Pt, Au, and Pd) are alloyed. M has a higher normal electrode potential than Ni, and therefore, has higher corrosion resistance; therefore, the corrosion resistance of the internal electrodes (4, 5) can be increased more than when no alloyed region in which M is alloyed with Ni is formed. Thus, the reliability in high humidity can be increased. Cu is preferable for M, and in the alloyed region, the presence of a location with Cu content of 10 mol% is more preferable.
