Disclosed in the present application are a multimedia communication method and device. The invention loads a session page by means of a browser kernel integrated in a local client, and executes scripts in the session page by means of the browser kernel to realize the following operations: exchanging control parameters with a peer client by means of a signaling server; establishing a data channel between the local client and the peer client by means of the address and port of the local client and the address and port of the peer client included in network parameters; collecting multimedia data and transmitting same to the peer client by means of the data channel, for playback by the peer client by means of media stream parameters of the local client, and receiving, by means of the data channel, the multimedia data collected by the peer client, and playing back same on the session page according to the media stream parameters of the peer client. Therefore, the present invention realizes multimedia communication across clients.
