Abstract:
Multiple wait stations in a shader implementation can be arranged to provide flexibility for synchronization between producer instructions and consumer instructions in the shader. Each wait station can have a unique name in the shader. A selected named wait station of the multiple wait stations can be assigned to both a producer instruction and a consumer instruction. At the selected named wait station, a signal that data executed by the producer instruction is ready for use can be received, where the consumer instruction assigned the same named wait station waits for arrival of the signal at the selected named wait station to execute the consumer instruction using the data generated from the producer instruction. The consumer instruction can be executed upon arrival of the signal, while another consumer instruction waits for arrival of a data ready signal in another named wait station.
