Description:
Multipurpose, fitted out plant and equipment for simultaneously playing the games of the "Wormholegame" series

The present invention relates to the field of the gambling houses intended as a set of equipment, installations and furnishings provided to optimize the playing of newly devised games and integrated with areas for entertainment and servicing.

More particularly, the present invention has been conceived to allow games of the so-called "Wormholegame" design (registered Trademark) to be even simultaneously played, and namely the so-called games:

"Wormholegame Cards" (registered Trademark) ; "Wormholegame Machine" (registered Trademark) ; "Wormholegame Dice" (registered Trademark) ; "Electronic Wormholegame" (registered Trademark) . "Wormholegame" design is characterized in that the first three games, i.e. "Wormholegame Cards", "Wormholegame Machine" and "Wormholegame Dice", even if they have the same rules, may be respectively played with:

- packs of cards, one pack of colour cards and one pack of score cards, which are the object of an Utility Model of the present Applicant; a machine consisting of a central mixer which shuffles and draws balls of different colours and nine mechanical roulettes, each provided with a white ball, for drawing the scores; such a machine is the object of a Patent of the present Applicant;

a machine consisting of a central mixer which shuffles and draws balls of different colours and nine mechanical dice-box agitators, each provided with a pair of dice, for drawing the scores; also such a machine is the object of a Patent of the present Applicant. The rules are the same and the match is played with the same 8 colours (blue, brown, cyan, green, orange, pink, red, and yellow) and the same 12 predetermined scores (0 to 11); a single match allows 5 gambling ways, i.e. the following five matches to be played, all of them being registered Trademarks:

"OPEN NUMBERS MATCH"

"SHUT NUMBERS MATCH"

"OPEN COLOURS MATCH"

"SHUT COLOURS MATCH"

"SUPER WORMHOLE MATCH" In the latter match, Open Numbers and Shut Numbers matches called Open Active and Shut Active, respectively, are alternately played.

The bank and at most eight players take part in each match. The bank plays then five different matches, and each player may play only one of the five matches. The maximum number of players who may take part in "Wormholegame Cards" or "Wormholegame Machine" or "Wormholegame Dice" games is forty.

Such three games may be individually organized in different fitted out halls, and namely:

- the "Wormholegame Cards" game in a modular square large hall, where four single matches are played with cards at four different gambling-tables, i.e. one for

each module which the large hall consists of. The hall has 160 seats for players, i.e. 40 seats in each module where the single match is played, and is the object of an Utility Model of the present Applicant. the "Wormholegame Machine" game in an octagonal hall, at the centre of which the machine acting as gambling-table is located, such a machine allowing the single match to be played with balls of different colours and mechanical roulettes, said hall being provided with 40 seats for players and being the object of an Utility Model of the present Applicant;

- the "Wormholegame Dice" game in a circular hall, at the centre of which the machine acting as gambling- table is located, such a machine allowing the single match to be played with balls of different colours and dice-box agitators, said hall being provided with 40 seats for players and being the object of the same Utility Model of the present Applicant as above.

The rules provide that the player is represented on the gambling-table by a number or a colour according to the selected match, and namely:

- one of the 8 numbers imprinted in the gambling-table in the Open Numbers, Shut Numbers and Super Wormhole matches;

- one of the 8 colours dealt out with the cards in the first hand or drawn with the coloured balls at the first throw; each colour of the Open Colours and Shut Colours matches is combined with one of the eight numbers imprinted in the gambling-table and takes on the specific characteristics thereof.

The eight numbers and the eight colours are also imprinted according to a predetermined succession at the stands of each hall and represent the players in the respective matches. Furthermore, the succession of the numbers is an important factor of the game as it assigns the position to the players with respect to the bank which leads.

Only the players taking part in the Super Wormhole match are seated around the gambling-table and then watch closely and from above the course of the match, while the other thirty-two players are seated in groups of eight in four stands which have the names of the matches to be played, i.e. Open Numbers, Shut Numbers, Open Colours and Shut Colours; the thirty-two players watch the match in one of the large displays located in full view of everyone.

The rules of such three games briefly provides that in each match, ending at the third or fourth hand in case of "Wormholegame Cards" and at the third or fourth throw in case of "Wormholegame Machine" and "Wormholegame Dice", there is only one winner, i.e. either the bank or one of the eight players, and all of the matches are based upon the total scores, the advantages points, the combinations of colours, two types of superbonus (sbz and sbc) , a variety of won and lost chips, and so on, the whole being controlled by a software which allows all of the players to follow the partial and final results of the matches on a main display, and the information relative to the single match on further displays.

Also the game control, including the access to the gamble, is regulated by a computerized procedure which manages the bookings made by the players. Such operations are performed by means of a magnetic card which any player is provided of and through which any player, after having booked the selected match, approach his gambling-seat provided with a computer easy to be used and connected to a main frame and comprising suitable peripherals such as a terminal with monitor, keyboard and a slot for the magnetic card. The situation of the bookings of all of the matches is shown on further displays.

The playing of the game is such that the progress of the partial and final results, scores, combinations, chips are shown on suitable displays designed for receiving all useful information which is abbreviated as follows:

BANKER "BA"

ADVANTAGE "AD"

PARTIAL "P"

FINAL SCORE "FS"

TOTAL "T"

GAME NUMBER "GN"

SUPERBONUSZERO "SBZ"

SUPERBONUSCOLOURS "SBC"

WINNER "W"

COMBINATION "CO"

STANDARD CHIPS "SC"

MODIFIED CHIPS "MC"

FINAL CHIPS "FC"

In the displays in which the players are represented by the colours, such colours are replaced in the present invention by letters A to H in the same succession imprinted at the two stands of Open Colours and Shut Colours matches which follows the alphabetical order of the names of the colours, and namely: A = blue; B = brown; C = cyan; D = green; E = orange; F = pink; G = red; H = yellow. Such a succession has also been used in the above-mentioned Utility Models.

Each hall is then provided with stands, videodisplays with a large screen and further displays, stationary and moving cash-desks, and seats for the staff. A more detailed description of each hall and their configuration, the operation of the machines, and the rules of the games, which in their whole allow the matches to be played and organized, is provided by the above-mentioned Patent and Utility Models which reference has to be made to. Such Patent and Utility Models as well as the eleven trademarks of the "Wormholegame" design have been filed by the present Applicant.

The present invention aims at allowing the above- mentioned three games to be played in only one room with the aid of a wholly computerized system connected in real time to the gambling-tables, where it is played with cards, dice and roulettes, and also at playing in the same room a fourth game belonging to the "Wormholegame" design (registered trademark) and grouping together the first three games, i.e.

"Electronic Wormholegame" (registered trademark) . In order to playing the games mentioned above the areas and the positions of the players have been arranged so as to make the game rational and easily approachable. Areas for entertainment and servicing have also been provided.

According to a first embodiment the staff employed in the course of the game may comprise at most 44 employees, and namely: six hall managers; six computer assistants; twelve cashiers at the moving cask-desks; sixteen cashiers at the stationary cash-desks; a dealer for each gambling-table where it is played with cards. The computer assistant can be replaced by an optical reader or similar means adapted to transfer colours and scores to suitable displays. Such a result has been achieved by a multipurpose fitted out plant and equipment divided into gambling areas and entertainment and servicing areas, so-called "WORMHOLE ISLAND" (registered trademark), designed in a modular way, in which the seats for the players are provided with a computer connected to a main frame and comprising suitable peripherals such as a terminal with monitor, a keyboard and a slot for the magnetic card. Such a multipurpose plant has a polygonal shape and includes: four main entrances from the outside and eight emergency exits;

- a transit and pause gangway communicating with the several halls;

- a central zone formed of three gambling-halls, i.e.

the three halls which are the object of the two above- mentioned Utility Models and to which reference should be made for further details. Such halls are unchanged with respect to the above Models as far as the central construction where the games are played and the arrangement of the videodisplays is concerned. However, they are changed in the arrangement of the cash-desks and the entrances, and in the shapes of the "Wormholegame Cards" and "Wormholegame Dice" halls which are octagonal in order to optimize the layout of the "Wormhole Island" multipurpose plant;

- a centrally located large hall for the "Wormholegame Cards" game including 160 seats for players as a whole and divided into four single modular halls having the form of a segment of a circle, each of them including: 40 seats for players; a gambling-table, along the inner side of which a croupier, the hall manager and a computer assistant are seated and along the outer side of which there are eight players; three stands for players, one having sixteen seats, the other two having each eight seats; two moving cash-desks; a videodisplay at the end of the hall; and ultimately a camera secured at the ceiling above the gambling- table. The large hall further includes two stationary cash-desks, two refreshment areas, and four entrances, which connect the hall to the other halls and the surrounding areas by a circular transit corridor around the hall;

- a hall for the "Wormholegame Machine" game and a hall for the "Wormholegame Dice" game located outside

and at the two opposite sides of the large hall for the "Wormholegame Cards" game near the above-mentioned refreshment areas. At the opposite side with respect to the central large hall the two above-mentioned halls have a main entrance from the outside and further include a central machine, the upper surface of which acts as gambling-table and around which eight players are seated; two pairs of like stands for players located around the gambling-table at a predetermined distance, each stand having eight seats and being separated from the other stands by a free transit gangway, two moving cash-desks; two videodisplays; and two stationary cash-desks at the corners of the walls, one of which is a two-level cash-desk, where the hall manager and a computer assistant find place in the upper level; and a camera secured at the ceiling above the machine. Each hall has 40 seats for the players. The two halls differ from each other in the mechanical devices used for drawing the scores, in the shape of the surface of the machine and the shape of the four stands; - four like polygonal halls for playing "Electronic Wormholegame", each of them has: some videodisplays which, in addition to the same information provided by the displays of each hall of the plant, give further game information about the results of all the matches so that the players can both take part directly in the matches, even with different gambling ways from those provided in the specific halls, and simultaneously place the so-called "external" bets on the results of

any match; three further displays for each match (Dice, Cards and Machine) having several specific functions and including a large screen and thirteen displays; two booking videodisplays, each including four displays. The players find place in the stand of eight rows located in front of the three videodisplays of the matches, said stand being divided into two halves by a central transit gangway at the end of which an emergency exit is provided, at both sides of the stand two more side gangways being also provided. Such stand has 120 seats for players, all of them being provided with computer;

- two like mirror-areas located outside the central zone and divided into upper and lower areas by the above-mentioned circular transit gangway of the "WORMHOLE ISLAND" multipurpose plant. Each mirror-area has two central gambling halls for the "Electronic Wormholegame" which are the same as those already described and separated by a transit gangway leading to a main entrance diametrically opposite to the stationary cash-desk of the large hall. Two areas, each provided with an emergency exit, are located sidewise to the above-mentioned central gambling halls and include servicing areas, show areas and commercial shops. Outside said areas there are two office premises.

The multipurpose plant of the present invention includes, in addition to the three gambling halls which cover the central zone, four halls for the "Electronic Wormholegame", four areas for

entertainment and servicing, and four office premises. The number of said areas and premises could be higher if an outer circular zone was provided around the multipurpose plant, where further areas and premises for a variety of activities can be provided. The achieved advantages essentially consist in the way for any player to make the best and easy use of any chance offered by the games as well as for any visitor to enjoy the typical services available in a public resort, a place of entertainment, and commercial premises.

A second advantage consists in permitting without any problem a great number of players to take simultaneously part in the games due to the use of a totally computerized system managed by less personnel. A third advantage is given by the economical and industrial utilization of the games, the layout of the halls and the specific hardware and software allowing a number of variants envisaged by the game rules. A further advantage is given by the building of both a construction only assigned to the above-mentioned games and further enlarged to the outside as already described and a hotel construction the ground or an intermediate floor of which could be used as multipurpose gambling-hall.

These and further advantages will be more readily understood by anyone skilled in the art from the following description and with reference to the accompanying drawings given by way of a not limiting example and under the assumption that further details

The schematic side view with the differences in levels may be seen in Figs. 2, 3 and 5.

Such large central hall is divided without any partition into four single like halls la, lb, lc and Id in the form of segments of circle, in each hall a single match being played with cards and forty seats provided with computer being reserved to players. Each single hall includes a gambling-table 11 in the form of a polygon with sixteen sides, four of which are missing so as to form an inner area in which a croupier finds place. Around the gambling-table at both sides of the croupier a hall manager and a computer assistant find place. In the other places around the gambling-table eight players designated by the numbers 1 to 8 are seated in a raised position from the surface of the gambling-table and take part in the Super Wormhole game. Beside the gambling-table there are two moving cash-desks 9, shown in Fig. 7a and 7b, provided with electromotors and driven by cashiers who move between gambling-table and stands along predetermined ways. There are solo provided three stands, the first 12 of which of generally semicircular form includes sixteen seats and is divided into two sectors of eight seats, i.e. the sector 12a of the players taking part in the Open Numbers match and the sector 12b of the players taking part in the Shut Numbers match, where the sixteen seats are identified by two series of numbers 1 to 8 from the first seat at the left hand side of the figure, while the other two stands 13a, 13b, each of eight seats, are located along an arc of circle and accommodate the eight players taking part in the Open

Colours match (stand 13a) and the eight players taking part in the Shut Colours match (stand 13b), the eight seats of each stand being identified by a series of eight colours corresponding to a letter of the alphabet according to a succession starting from the first seat at the left hand side of the figure as shown on the displays relative to the Open Colours and Shut Colours matches, and namely: A = blue; B = brown; C = cyan; D = green; E = orange; F = pink; G = red; H = yellow. The numbers and the colours represent the players during the matches. A videodisplay 14 raised from the floor of each single hall is located at the end of the latter behind the croupier and in front of the gambling-table 11 and the stands 12 and 13 and is formed of a central board and two like side boards which only differentiate in the arrangement of the single displays having several specific functions. Such side boards are positioned at 45° to the central board so as to be seen at best by any players. A camera not shown in the figures is secured to the ceiling above the gambling-table. Large hall 1 includes one hundred and sixty seats for players and also two stationary cash-desks, shown in Fig. 6 and managed each by six cashiers, four of which, however, carry out cash operations and bookings for the players of the other halls, and two refreshment areas as shown in Fig. 8, each having thirty seats, both the cash- desks and the refreshment areas facing partially the outside of the hall. For further details about the arrangement and the difference in level of the hall as

well as the positions of the cards on the gambling- table and the arrangement of the accessories of the croupier, and the videodisplay with its specific information, reference has to be made to the concerned Utility Model of the present Applicant;

- an octagonal hall 2, shown in Fig. 9, opened to the inside and assigned to the "Wormholegame Dice" game. For further details about the arrangement and the difference in level of the hall as well as the operation of the machine and the videodisplays with its specific information, reference has to be made to the concerned Utility Model and Patent of the present Applicant;

- four like polygonal halls 4, shown in Fig. 13, for playing "Electronic Wormholegame" game which are separated from the central hall by the transit gangway 90 and partially by two low partitions 41 and each provided with an emergency exit 81. The schematic side view of an "Electronic Wormholegame" hall with the difference in levels is shown in Figs. 3 and 14. In that hall the players find place in stand 42 consisting of eight rows and located in front of the three videodisplays 43a-43c. Such stand is divided in two halves by a central gangway at the end of which the emergency exit 81 is provided, while at both sides of the stand two more side gangways are provided. The stand has as a whole 120 seats for players, each provided with computer, monitor, keyboard and slot for

a magnetic card, said seats being divided in rows starting from that row which is the nearest to the videodisplays 43a-43c as follows: first row has 10 seats; second row has 14 seats; third row has 18 seats; fourth row has 20 seats; fifth row has 18 seats; sixth row has 16 seats; seventh row has 14 seats; and eighth row has 10 seats. Unlike the other halls, such hall does not have any single seat designated by numbers or colours representing the players. The three videodisplays 43a-43c shown in Fig. 15 are raised from the floor of the hall and refers to the three games played in the three central halls, respectively. Videodisplay 43a refers to "Wormholegame Dice", videodisplay 43b refers to "Wormholegame Cards", and videodisplay 43c refers to "Wormholegame Machine". However, the four halls of the "Electronic Wormholegame" differentiate from one another in the match shown on videodisplay 43b of "Wormholegame Cards". In fact, such videodisplay shows in hall 4a only the match played in hall la of the large "Wormholegame Cards" hall 1 which is then the only match that may be played in that hall. In hall 4b there is shown and may be played only the match played in hall lb of the large hall 1, in hall 4c there may be played only the match played in hall lc of the large hall 1, and in hall 4d there may be played only the match played in hall Id of the large hall 1. As both "Wormholegame Dice" and "Wormholegame Machine" matches are the only matches played in their respective halls, such matches may be played in any of

four "Electronic Wormholegame" halls. The three videodisplays 43 of the matches consist of five boards and an arch placed above the same with the inscriptions Dice, Cards, Machine, respectively. Such videodisplays show the same information as the other displays located in any hall and further information about the results of the matches so that the players can both take part directly in the single matches even with gambling ways different from those carried out in the single halls, and simultaneously place the so- called "external" bets on the result of any match. First board 431, shown in Fig. 16, is divided into two like rectangular parts and shows the odds of the winner and the each-way bet of the Open Numbers match shown on the higher display 431a and Open Colours match shown on the lower display 431b. Second board 432, shown in Fig. 17, is divided into four parts, three of which are like rectangular displays and the fourth part, located above the other parts, is the triangular display 432a which shows the Super Jackpot prize money. Display 432b shows the prize money and the reference scores of the OpenSuperScore, display 432c shows the results of the Open Numbers match, and display 432d shows the results of the Open Colours match. Third board 433, shown in Fig. 18, is divided into two like square parts, the upper part 433a being a large screen where the imagines of the match played in the corresponding hall are shown, and the lower part 433b being a display showing the results of the single match and the summary of all specific

information of the Super Wormhole match, i.e. Open Active or Shut Active. Fourth board 434, shown in Fig. 19, is divided into four parts, three of which being like rectangular displays, and the fourth part, located above the other parts, being a triangular display 434a on which the Super Jackpot prize money is shown. Display 434b shows the reference scores of the ShutSuperScore, display 434c shows the results of the Shut Numbers match, and display 434d shows the results of the Shut Colours match. Fifth board 435, shown in Fig. 20, is divided into two like rectangular parts and shows the reference odds of the winner and the each-way bet of the Shut Numbers match shown on the upper display 435a and Shut Colours match shown on the lower display 435b. Displays 432c, 432d, 433b, 434c and 434d are the same as those located in the hall where the concerned match is played and show the same specific information. The bookings of Open Numbers, Open Colours, Super Wormhole, Shut Numbers, Shut Colours matches played according to the three game rules are shown on the videodisplays 441 and 442 consisting of only one board divided into four like rectangular parts. The bookings of the "Wormholegame Cards" game are shown on both videodisplays. The two upper displays 441a and 441b of videodisplay 441, shown in Fig. 21, show the bookings of the five matches of "Wormholegame Cards", and the lower displays 441c and 441d show the bookings of "Wormholegame Dice". The two upper displays 442a and 442b of videodisplay 442, shown in Fig. 22, show the

bookings of the five matches of "Wormholegame Cards", and the lower displays 442c and 442d show the bookings of "Wormholegame Machine". In any display of the Open Colours and Shut Colours matches, the eight colours designating the players are replaced by eight letters in the same succession as that shown in the stands; four like areas 5a-5d, shown in Fig. 12, for entertainment and servicing. The first area 5a has the emergency exit 80a and is located between "Wormholegame Dice" hall 2 and "Electronic Wormholegame" hall 4a, the second area 5b has the emergency exit 80b and is located between "Electronic Wormholegame" hall 4b and "Wormholegame Machine" hall 3, the third area 5c has the emergency exit 80c and is located between "Wormholegame Machine" hall 3 and "Electronic Wormholegame" hall 4c, and the fourth area 5d has the emergency exit 80d and is located between "Electronic Wormholegame" hall 4d and "Wormholegame Dice" hall 2;

- four like rooms 6a-6d, shown in Fig 12, for office premises located at the sides of "Wormholegame Dice" and "Wormholegame Machine" halls behind the stationary cash-desks of said halls.

In a preferred embodiment the multipurpose plant of the invention has a whole surface area of about 3.600 m 2 , the main entrances 70a and 70b has a width of about 350 cm, and the main entrances 71a and 71b has a width of about 540 cm, the emergency exits 80 and 81 has a width of about 340 cm and a height of 210 cm, the large hall 1 of "Wormholegame Cards" has a whole

surface area of about 600 m 2 , "Wormholegame Dice" hall 2 and "Wormholegame Machine" hall 3 have a whole surface area of about 250 m 2 , a hall 4 of the "Electronic Wormholegame" has a whole surface area of 260 m 2 , an area 5 for entertainment and servicing has a whole surface area of about 150 m 2 . All of the videodisplays in the "Wormhole Island" halls are raised from the floor by 210 cm, and the rectangular displays thereof have a size of 145 x 72,5 x 30 cm, while the square displays and the large screens have a size of 145 x 145 x 30 cm. The rows of the stands in the "Electronic Wormholegame" halls are spaced apart by 150 cm and the difference in level among the same is about 15 cm. The minimum distance of the first row from the central videodisplay is about 320 cm. The width of the central gangway is about 190 cm, while the width of the lateral gangways in the narrowest point is about 150 cm.

For further details reference has to be made to the other Patent and Utility Models of the present Applicant.

As can be seen from the preceding description the multipurpose plant of the invention allows seven hundred and twenty players, whose seats provided with computers are distributed in the seven halls around the gambling-tables and in the stands, to take part in the various games. There are also provided suitable areas accommodating the computerized centre and the hardware units for the computerized management of the games of the "Wormholegame" series.

According to a further preferred embodiment of the invention, equivalent electronic devices (not shown in the figures) can be used for drawing the cards, instead of the Croupiers dealing the same. Electronic devices can also be used for drawing the scores, instead of the dice and roulette machines, and for drawing the colours, instead of said machines shuffling and drawing coloured balls. Advantageously, the use of such electronic devicej allows a completely electronic Casino to be realized.

The present invention has been described with reference to preferred embodiments, however, it should be understood that anyone skilled in the art can make equivalent modifications without departing from the scope of the present industrial invention.
