Description:
Multiwall polycarbonate-containing composite plate, especially for architectural and decorative purposes

The object of the present invention

The present invention relates to a multiwall polycarbonate-containing composite plate, especially for architectural and decorative purposes.

Background of the invention

It is known that the polycarbonate plates can be solid or multiwall, the solid plate is highly transparent to visible light, it is light, it can be bent cold, it has good sound absorption, it is flexible, and it has a good impact resistance

(https://en.wikipedia.org wiki/Polycarbonate ' ).

The solid polycarbonate plates are frequently used as advertising medium and for decoration, while the multiwall polycarbonate plates are widely used by the construction industry.

The multiwall polycarbonate plates can be used both indoors and outdoors, because of the cavities this product is extremely light, at the same time well-bendable, highly transparent to visible light, it can be prepared even with UV protection, has good load bearing capability, aesthetic, has good insulation capacity.

The application field of the polycarbonate plates in the construction industry is for example corrugated sheets, roof light domes, various panels, and skylight rooftop bars, and include the continuous roof lights, canopies as well.

According to the Hungarian Patent Application No. PI 000641 polycarbonate plates are used for the panels suitable for the efficient accumulation of the solar energy.

On the other hand, it is known that formerly the use of thatched roof and reed mat was customary, mainly for the isolation of the spaces below the ceiling.

For additional uses the industrially harvested fibre reed is selected, purified, cut to size in length, the obtained fibres are clenched with wire or plastic yarn bonding, this way serial reed mat is obtained, which can be used for insulation and decorative purposes in the construction industry, and in addition to this it is suitable for aesthetic covering, delimitation, for the formation of coverings providing filtered light, partial shadow. Despite the excellent insulating properties the significance of using the reed as excellent insulating, roofing material is decreasing, since its weather resistance is inadequate, flammable, its handwork demand is high. Therefore nowadays the use of the reed in itself as construction material happens rather for decorative purposes.

The GB 1 302 467 Al patent description discloses the method of preparation of shaped bodies, in which in the shaping mould layers with predetermined fibre running are formed from reed, and mould them with high pressure foaming polyurethane, epoxy, phenol, polystyrene, silicon, polyvinyl or acrylonitrile synthetic resin components, this way reed-containing mould resin shaped bodies are obtained. This solution is serving the preparation of elements suitable for isolation purposes, but which has several disadvantages even on its technical field.

In the application mentioned above, based on the light transmission of the plates, the light and heat in some cases may be too much, therefore additional light- and heat filtration may become necessary.

In case where the single layer reed mat is used for light filtration, considering the summer light conditions, although staying under it is pleasant, but the shading reed mat is not waterproof, which is an unpleasant condition in itself, additionally it has also an impact on the life time, which is only 2-3 years. The same can be said about the covering and protective walls, exposed to weather effects.

Description of the invention

The objective of the solution of the invention is the preparation of a light transmis- sive shading element, which is free of the disadvantages mentioned above.

It was found that the set task of the . solution can be fulfilled with the composite element prepared by the combination of the multiwall polycarbonate and the reed.

Therefore the present invention relates to a multiwall polycarbonate-containing composite plate, especially for architectural and decorative purposes, which is characterized in that it includes purified reeds, cut to size, threaded in at least part of the longitudinal cavities of the panelled multiwall polycarbonate plate, and the sides of the composite plate are provided with ribbon, end seal profile, known per se.

Preferably the panelled multiwall polycarbonate-reed composite plate is a bilayered

- with one air chamber - typically 6, 8, 10, 16 mm thick, most preferably 10 mm thick plate. Expediently the panelled multiwall polycarbonate plate is clear as water, or slightly greenish (so called "heat stopper"), or bronze coloured, and the reeds threaded in its cavities may optionally be painted, coloured, or may be any combinations of the natural coloured and painted or coloured fibres.

Short description of the Figures

Better understanding of the claimed solution is served by Figures 1 and 2, but without the solution being limited for the exemplary embodiments presented by them.

Embodiment of the invention

Figure 1 shows the cross-section of the polycarbonate composite plate according to the invention, and Figure 2 shows the perspective view thereof.

The 1 multiwall polycarbonate plate shown on Figure 1 is bilayered, with one air chamber, the 2 cavities are in empty condition on the Figure. The term air chamber refers to the space between the upper and lower layer of the polycarbonate plate, between which there are ribs, and between the ribs the 2 cavities are located.

Figure 2 illustrates a 1 multiwall polycarbonate composite plate, according to the embodiment demonstrated on the Figure each of the 2 cavities contains 2a reed threaded in them.

It is obvious that it is understood by the skilled persons that not each 2 cavity contains necessarily a 2a reed, on the basis of different considerations (the degree of see- through should the product allow, the degree of light transmission desired), one or more of cavities 2 may remain empty, without the product getting out of the scope claimed.

Additionally, in case of the embodiments demonstrated on the Figures the vapour barrier belt, or the closing U-profile known per se closing the 2 cavities are not indicated, since this is well known in the art, in this regard a separate teaching is not needed for the professionals.

Preparation of the product according to the invention is performed as follows.

The 1 multiwall polycarbonate plate is cut to size with a special cutting machine equipped with a circular saw disc.

The middle portion the dried up stem of the common reed (Phragmites australis) can be used as 2a reed, in 1-2 m length. The suitable reeds should be selected in such a way that their thickest part should not be thicker than the. inner diameter of the 2 cavity of the 1 multiwall polycarbonate plate. Threading the 2 a reeds in the 2 cavities of the 1 multiwall polycarbonate plate is carried out manually. Before threading the 2a reeds are sorted according to their thickness, integrity, their leaves, outgrowths, or in case of the thicker parts the loose outer layer is manually detached immediately over the knots. If desired, the 2a reeds are painted or coloured.

The edges of the tables prepared in accordance with the above are closed with a generally used vapour barrier belt, or closing U-profile, in order to avoid that the influent water destroys the reed, or insects, pests move to the cavities.

In case of the multiwall polycarbonate containing composite plate according to the invention the reed is protected from the harmful UV rays, and it is also protected from the effects of the weather, from powder, contaminations, at the same time the 2a reed significantly reduces light transmission, but allows the infiltration of some light; at the covering walls, structures the insight is prevented. The 2a reeds further improve longitudinally the rigidity of the product. The appearance is aesthetic, causes far less artificial effects than the polycarbonate plate used in itself.

The multiwall polycarbonate containing composite plate can be used for the preparation of smaller or bigger roofs, spatial covers, shields, partition walls, wall coverings, wall hangings, decorations.
