Title:
MUSIC ON-HOLD FOR IP-BASED PHONE SYSTEMS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2013/054109
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
A media extension system for use with an internet protocol (IP) phone system comprising a plurality of phones, each having a phone identifier and a communications interface for communicating over the internet. The system comprises an authentication server having at least a communications interface for communicating over the internet. The authentication server is configured to use the phone identifiers to authenticate calls between phones. A media server coupled to said authentication server receives call authentication data from the media server to authenticate an established call. The media server is configured to monitor the established call to detect when a call is put on hold and, responsive to the detection, to serve media stored on the media server to the phone put on hold. The media may contain targeted advertisements obtained through user profiling based on: call history (data analytics engine), geographical location and demographic data associated to the user put on hold (thanks to the authentication procedure), rather than to the device's line identity.
