Abstract:

An acetylated N-acetylglucosamine derivative represented by the following general formula (1) and a hyaluronic acid production promoter containing the same and a skin preparation for external use containing the same. General formula (1): wherein R¹ represents hydrogen or C_2-18 alkyl; R², R³ and R⁴ may be either the same or different and each represents hydrogen or C_2-18 acyl; and the stereostructure at the 1-position may be either &agr - or β-structure, provided that R¹, R², R³ and R⁴ do not represent hydrogen at the same time. It is intended to provide an easily available hyaluronic acid production promoter and a skin preparation for external use by which the production of hyaluronic acid can be promoted in the skin and thus the skin can be maintained in a firm and moisten state so that it is expected that the human skin can be prevented from aging.
