Abstract:
A navigation device is provided with a base unit (10) mounted to the body of a vehicle, a front panel unit (14) removably mounted to and connected to the base unit (10) and having a navigation function for displaying map data on a front panel and displaying the position of the vehicle on the map data, and an authenticating unit (30) for performing authentication which confirms that the base unit (10) and the front panel unit (14) have been connected to each other and, when confirmed, permitting operation of an electric controlling device of the vehicle. The navigation device can be used as an anti-theft device.
