An NC program search method includes: a first image generation step for genera ting, upon external input of shape data on an object to be processed, image data corresponding to the shape data on the object to be processed as pro cessing-object image data; a second image generation step for generating image data on a finished shape of processing as finished-shape image data on the basis of a legacy NC program; a storage step for storing the finished-shape image data after correlating same with a corresponding NC program; a degree of similarity calculation step for calculating the degree of similarity between the processing-object image data and the finished-shape image data by comparing the two; a search step for searching for and displaying a candidate for the finished-shape image data similar to or matching the processing-object image data on the basis of the degree of similarity; and a display step for displaying an NC program for the finished-shape image data specified by external input from among the candidates for the finished-shape image data.
