What is claimed is:

1 . A near-eye support device for supporting a miniaturized digital display screen, comprising: a) a base frame that is generally in the form of a circle or monocle having a swivel member that generally rotates outwardly, b) an elongated arm having one end coupled to said swivel, and c) a holder adapted to support a miniaturized display component that is generally coupled to another end of said elongated arm.

2. The device of claim 1 wherein the swivel member is mounted to generally rotate horizontally of said frame.

3. The device of claim 1 wherein another end of said elongated arm is generally coupled to a ball and socket joint.

4. The device of claim 1 which includes means to generally slide said holder to a desirable position.

5. The device of claim 1 which includes means to generally extend the distance of said holder from the base frame.

6. The device of claim 1 which includes means to prevent the display holder from rotating inwardly towards a wearer’s eye.

7. The device of claim 1 which includes means to prevent said holder and said display component from blocking the wearer’s standard line of sight.

8. A near-eye support device for supporting a miniaturized digital display screen, comprising: a) a base frame that is generally in the form of a circle or monocle having a swivel member that generally rotates outwardly, b) an elongated arm having one end coupled to said swivel, c) a holder adapted to support a miniaturized display component that is generally coupled to another end of said elongated arm, and d) a means to adjustably lock the position of the display in a generally preselected position. 4

9. The device of claim 8 wherein the swivel member is mounted to generally rotate horizontally of said frame.

10. The device of claim 8 wherein another end of said elongated arm is generally coupled to a ball and socket joint.

11 . The device of claim 8 which includes means to prevent said holder and said display component from blocking the wearer’s standard line of sight.

12. The device of claim 8 which includes means to generally extend the distance of said holder from the base frame.

13. The device of claim 8 which includes means to prevent the display holder from rotating inwardly towards a wearer’s eye.

14. The device of claim 8 wherein the swivel member is mounted on the outer portion to the side, preferably three quarters up from the lowest part of said frame.

15. A near-eye support device for supporting a miniaturized digital display screen, comprising: a) a base frame that is generally in the form of a circle or monocle having a swivel member that generally rotates outwardly, b) an elongated arm having one end coupled to said swivel, c) a holder adapted to support a miniaturized display component that is generally coupled to another end of said elongated arm, d) a means to adjustably lock the position of the display in a generally preselected position; and e) a means to adjustably lock the position of the base frame in a generally preselected position.

16. The device of claim 15 wherein the swivel member is mounted to generally rotate horizontally of said frame.

17. The device of claim 15 wherein another end of said elongated arm is generally coupled to a ball and socket joint.

18. The device of claim 15 which includes means to prevent said holder and said display component from blocking the wearer’s standard line of sight. 5

19. The device of claim 15 which includes means to generally extend the distance of said holder from the base frame.

20. The device of claim 15 which includes means to prevent the display holder from rotating inwardly towards a wearer’s eye.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

FIG. 1 illustrates how a typical user would use the near-eye video display mounting assembly device 1 having a monocle-like frame configured to be secured between a user's cheek and brow.

As shown in FIGS. 2 - 14, device 1 is supporting a near-eye video display component 2 of a micro-sized or mini-sized LED, LCD, OLED or similar display type. The device 1 is attached to a frame 10 which is formed like a monocle without a glass or lens. It is preferred that Frame 10 is durable, elastic, lightweight, comfortable and of appropriate dimensions.

On the frame 10, as shown in FIG.2, located about 3/4 up from the bottom is a swivel member 3 which is part of assembly 1. The swivel member 3, which may be spring-loaded to enable it to open out automatically as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, is coupled to an arm 4 that includes a short rod 9 positioned at the end. The arm 4 and rod 9 may be hollow to allow the wiring 8 from the video port 5 to traverse and exit out close to the location of near-eye display component 2.

The rod 9 is configured to be coupled to the near-eye display component 2 by means of a ball and socket joint mechanism 7 to allow the component to adjust to the user's optimal or comfortable need.

To allow for the device 1 to be stored in a smaller compartment or housing 20 when not in use, the swivel member 3 may be caused to rotate down to a compact position as shown in FIGS. 6 - 8. In this compact position, the receptacle 20 with an opening 21 allows the device 1 attached to the monocle-like frame 10 to slide inside for storage.

In another embodiment of the present invention, FIGS. 12 - 14 illustrates the addition of a gallery fixture 11 to improve the ability of the device 1 using the monocle-like frame 10 to stay securely in place.

In another embodiment of the present invention to further improve the ability of the device 1 to stay securely in place, especially for active users, a one-eyed swimming goggle-like frame 30, without a glass or lens, having a strap that goes around a user's head, is shown in FIG. 15. The frame 30 may be attached to the device 1 by some support means 31.

In still another embodiment of the present invention, FIG. 16 illustrates the addition of a clip support means 41 to allow a user who wears eyeglasses 40 to use the device 1.
