Abstract:
 Provided is a negative electrode active substance material capable of improving charge/discharge cycle characteristics and/or the volumetric discharge capacity. The negative electrode active substance material according to the present embodiment contains an alloy phase and a ceramic. The alloy phase undergoes thermoelastic diffusionless transformation when metal ions are released or absorbed. The ceramic is dispersed in the metal phase. The amount of the ceramic in the alloy phase is over 0 to 50% by mass in relation to the total mass of the alloy phase and the ceramic.
