Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to suppress reduction in cycle characteristics and reduction in capacitance, in a lithium ion secondary battery comprising a negative electrode having an active substance layer including a first active substance comprising a carbon material and a second active substance comprising a metal oxide. This negative electrode for a lithium ion secondary battery comprises a collector (10), and an active substance layer (11) formed upon the collector (10) and including the first active substance and the second active substance. The first active substance comprises a carbon material capable of occluding and releasing lithium ions. The second active substance comprises a metal oxide capable of occluding and releasing lithium ions. At least one section of the surface of the carbon material particles is covered by metal oxide particles. The average particle diameter of the metal oxide particles is no more than 1/10 of the average particle diameter of the carbon material particles. The coverage rate for the metal oxide particle coverage of the surface of the carbon material particles is 30%-70%.
