Abstract:
A negative pressure-type booster (1) comprises: a booster shell (2) configured from a front shell (8) and a rear shell (9); and a diaphragm (13) for dividing the interior of the booster shell (2) into a constant-pressure chamber (18) and a variable-pressure chamber (19), the constant-pressure chamber (18) being formed between the front shell (8) and the diaphragm (13), and the variable-pressure chamber (19) being formed between the rear shell (9) and the diaphragm (13). The front shell (8) has ribs (11) that are formed so as to curve inward in an axial direction of the booster shell (2) and intermittently extend for a predetermined length in a circumferential direction. Each rib (11) has a gradually-changing section (22) where a rib depth (21), that is, an inward length of the rib in the axial direction, increases as the rib extends from an end part (24) toward a center part (25) such that the strength and durability of the front shell (8) can be improved without impairing the formability.
