Abstract:
[PROBLEMS] To provide a negative rigidity device capable of preventing excessive stress
from occurring in a structure, extending the base isolation cycle of a base isolation
structure, increasing the damping effect on the base isolation structure by
friction damping, and having a trigger function by static friction, and simplified
in structure and a base isolation structure using the negative rigidity device.
[MEANS FOR SOLVING THE PROBLEMS] This negative rigidity device (10) comprises
a tilting mechanism (11) in which a rolling surface (12) for a rolling element
(14) or a sliding surface for a sliding element can be tilted when the rolling element
rolls or the sliding element slides in the horizontal direction. The rolling
element is a roller or a wheel (14b) which can be installed on an upper member or
a lower member. The tilting mechanism (11) is composed of a flat rolling plate (12)
and an elastic pad (13) made of an elastic material or composed of a flat rolling plate
and a laminate manufactured by stacking elastic bodies and thin steel plates alternately.
The base isolation structure is composed of the negative rigidity device (10)
and a device having a restoring force characteristic to utilize negative rigidity.
Consequently, the base isolation structure can be easily returned to the origin.
