Abstract:
[Problem] To provide: a negative-diopter eyeglass lens blank with which there is little sense of oddness in appearance when viewed by a third party and for which the processing steps are few; an eyeglass lens obtained by processing the lens blank; and a method of processing a negative-diopter eyeglass lens blank. [Solution] A globular shape 19 that is longer horizontally than vertically is set onto a lens reverse-face side of a material block, and on the reverse face, rendered are: a concave-surface shape (first shape) that exhibits, for the wearer, optical performance as a prescribed negative-strength lens; and another shape (second shape) that is composited with the first shape and that has a curved geometry in which the ridge line 18 is not concaved outward inside the temporal sides of the globular shape and outside the lens-use area, the curvature of the ridge-line 18 curve being greatest near the middle of the top-to-bottom span of the globular shape 19, and the thickness of the shape gradually thinning from the ridge line 18 towards the lens rim.
